      Remember the itv score logo looking like that back then. The Champions League was so much better being on itv. There’s much more added time now but back then 6 minutes seemed rare. Joked with my dad that José Mourinhno must have bribed the referee.

      One unfortunate trade off of our Klopp-era success is Anfield will never sound like this again, not unless we go on another decades-long spell of no PL or CL. The noise was just absolutely deafening that night. Some days I really do miss it, it all just *felt* so much bigger and more meaningful back then, even during the struggles.

      I’m not going to turn this into a flimsy defence of Slot because I do believe we need a change in the summer for a variety of reasons, but when I see some of the stuff said about the man on here as we sit as current champions, it’s abundantly clear that a fair few still don’t really *get* what this club is all about.

      I was watching this on a proper shit, tiny portable tv at work on the night shift. Yet it was one of the most euphoric moments I’ve ever experienced watching football. That atmosphere was on a different level. And what came next complimented these efforts in the most beautifully, poetic way.

      You could literally feel the kop bouncing that night. It was an unbelievable atmosphere and you really felt part of the result. It must have been crap to be a Chelsea player – every touch booed with anger and animosity.

      Football was incredible during this era. Proper baller players allowed to express, not just systems like nowadays. No bullshit immature social media posts. Saturday football was Saturday football with a great and packed motd line up. Prime commentators. National football full of drama. Football felt like it meant more back then

      I watched this to death on the Road to Istanbul DVD when I was a kid. Those ITV European nights just hit different and Clive Tyldesley’s full-time monologue is my favourite bit of football commentary ever.
