About Arne Slot – Short summary:
Gorst basically rejects Ornstein‘s suggestion the club is already planning with Slot for the next season and him being involved in the transfer business.
The fact they didn‘t extend his contract yet speaks louder than any private or public backing he‘s getting from the club right now.
No sacking in mid-season. UCL qualification (5th place) is still possible and Slot will get the chance to do the job until the end of the season.
They will decide about Slot‘s future after the end of the season. Anything is possible. He could end up staying or get sacked.
However the amount of losses and the ongoing bad performances don‘t look good on Slot.

Even the short summary literally says nothing. He might get to end of season, might not. He could end up staying, he could get sacked.
It’s pretty obvious they aren’t 100% convinced yet with Slot, as this season has been abysmal performances that are dull to watch, and aren’t getting us enough points. I doubt he’ll be here next season tbh. I don’t believe FSG are that incompetent.
He needs to go and that includes that backroom staff too. Serious questions need to be asked about the transfer policy and who had input/making the decisions this season.
It’s a results game and our team is full of world class players that look unfit and unbothered. It’s criminal to lose games whilst we’re not running, pressing or look like we’re trying. If you can’t beat them then outrun them. Spurs and Brighton should not be destroying us in distance over a game.
The PSG fixture must have broken his mind but never got out of that slump and doesn’t look like there’s much plan to do so. The horseshoe shaped passing from LW > ST > CM > CM > RW at a snail’s pace is horrendous and whoever brought that in needs to never come back. We also as a club didn’t sort of the set pieces quickly enough and became completely vulnerable.
Though at the end of the day, the guy deserves respect for taking the reigns from an absolute giant of a man in Klopp, beating expectations and winning the league. Also for navigating the devastating news of Jota as well as Salah’s outburst/falling with grace.
What about Isak’s return?
‘He might get sacked, but he also might not’
Yes, those are literally the only 2 options. This tells us absolutely nothing.
Sticking with Slot runs the possibility of setting the club back years. Its way too much of a gamble. You go into a scenario where if things dont improve, you’re sacking him in September/October and doing the one thing the club has consistently said is the worst case scenario; sacking mid season wirh zero planning and options being extremely limited. Klopp becoming available back in 2015 was an insane stroke of luck thats not likely to ever happen again.
I cannot see a scenario where FSG okays running that risk.
To be fair to Slot he walked into a squad that was already mid-rebuild with key players either leaving or checked out. Judging him purely on this season’s results without that context isn’t really honest analysis.
I mean, it’s a bit of a nothing burger, but does this make Gorst the first LFC-centric journo to even publicly entertain the idea that Slot might get sacked?
Xabi is coming boys… 🙏🏼
The echo knows about as much as me or you on these topics.
The echo has lost all credibility, their website is a mess. A lot of click bait and articles for clicks has made me avoid them completely. Steer clear imo
Just let all 3 go and start a new chapter next season
I do think hes gone, but it wouldnt surprise me if they are waiting until he is in the final 12 months so its a cheaper payout or if they are waiting for a club like Spurs to make a move for him and get some compensation
Might go, might not. Sound.
Why is it so inconceivable that Slot is still a good coach, as evidenced by every season before this one? If we qualify for champions league, and either win a cup or run far in one, so long as this is the lowest we go, it’s no way near the level of capitulation that Spurs, Chelsea or Man Utd have experienced. If all of the data points point to us having been extremely unlucky, why cant this just be the painful transition season ?
Is this story suggesting that Ornstein doesn’t know what he’s talking about? Because I thought Orny just blathered on and on without saying anything of meaning, but now you’re telling me it’s _untrue_ nonsense??? Well, I never…
Just imagine what Jurgen could do with this team. Its an awful shame. I think its time we give Alonso a chance because Slotball is not Liverpool.
So he scrapes into CL and we keep him, or we don’t and he goes? Neither of those sound ideal.
“He could end up staying or get sacked” lmao nice one.
Is Gorst reliable?
what’s the positives on giving him this season if we are gonna sack him anyway.
He’s badly consistant on worst performances and the board has to take risk sacking him right now if they want Liverpool to challenge for the title next season. Should give the next manager some time to test and understand the squad.
So tired of “journalists” writing these nothing stories just to get some clicks. How about you just report something when there’s something to report? Also maybe we shouldn’t perpetuate this crap by posting it on here eh?
Only thing keeping Slot alive at the club is how is sacking would make Hughes look.
I’ll be surprised if Slot is in charge next season. He is well out of his depth as a coach. It is after all a business and has to answer to the board.
Who gonna save FSG financial loss if Slot miss UCL
