Manchester United will try to sign at least two midfielders this summer; Elliot Anderson is seen as an ideal No 8 but Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson and Joao Gomes remain targets; Iliman Ndiaye and Yan Diomande are among attacking options; Lewis Hall is also name United are impressed with

Lewis Hall, Yan Diomande and Iliman Ndiaye are among the names Manchester United are considering as they look to strengthen ahead of a likely return to European competition next season.

An ideal summer window would include at least two midfielders signed, with Brighton’s Carlos Baleba still a target after a move to Old Trafford failed to materialise last summer and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson also high on United’s list of targets.

Brighton have always been adamant they will demand a high fee for Baleba; however, a drop off in performances this season has likely impacted his value, which could work in United’s favour.

Like United were able to achieve last summer window with Matheus Cunha, the club will try to secure deals early on. United are aware that the World Cup will impact any business this summer; therefore, with Cameroon not involved in the competition, the 22-year-old is an ideal target to secure as soon as possible.

Anderson is seen as an ‘ideal’ no.8 to slot into United’s side but strong competition from Manchester City is expected

As previously reported, Wolves’ Joao Gomes is another potential target and could be a cheaper option to reinforce the squad with Wolves likely to be relegated. Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is also a name under consideration.

While there’s a common understanding that United will prioritise adding to their options in the middle of the park, with Casemiro departing this summer, those at Old Trafford are also keen to bolster options at left wing and at left back.

RB Leipzig forward Diomande is high on United’s list of left-wing targets ahead of this summer’s transfer window. He’s understood to fit the profile of a right-footed left-winger and has huge potential at just 19-years-old.

Diomande has had an impressive season in the Bundesliga with 10 goals and seven assists for Leipzig who are on the charge for Champions League qualification.

A high demand in the Ivory Coast international could prompt United to act early in the summer, with Diomande understood to be high in demand from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Meanwhile, Everton’s Ndiaye is another player United are monitoring in this position. The 26-year-old scored in Everton’s 3-0 win against Chelsea last weekend, continuing an impressive season under David Moyes.

At full back, the club hold an interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown. The 22-year-old Germany international has four goals and four assists in the Bundesliga this campaign.

Newcastle United’s Hall is also on their radar after an impressive season that has earned involvement in Thomas Tuchel’s last England camp ahead of the World Cup.

United’s current option at left-back, Luke Shaw, who has been a Premier League stalwart this season, has terms that will run until the summer of 2027. Tyrell Malacia is expected to leave the club once his contract expires in the summer.

Has there been an estimate of how much we can spend this summer, including the likely outgoing sales?

  3. Hall would be immense. I think sleeping on Summerville if West Ham go down is a mistake, could be got for cheap and gives more cover on the left position.

  4. Neither journalist on the tier list, add to that Sky becoming very unreliable, I have a hard time believing this.

These names are very popular online in recent weeks so it reads like an engagement-bait.

  5. Will Newcastle even do business with us?

I’ve not seen any financial issues forcing them to sell.

  6. Are the midfield options between Wharton, Baleba, Anderson and Tonali by any chance?

I need another article explaining that me.

The rest of this article seems more like transfer ‘ideas’ than anything concrete.

Haven’t seen any links to Ndiaye before this. But if there’s a chance to buy him we have to try. Lad is an absolute baller. He’s in the right age range, will probably cost around £45m – £50m (United tax included) which is comparable to what we are paying for other key signings. Seen a lot of these Diomande links but I dont think he’s nearly as good as Ndiaye, and Ndiaye is PL proven.

Haven’t see us linked to Lewis Hall but makes me curious what our plans are with Dorgu. So is he a winger officially now? Probably depends on the manager situation? I think he could be a good LB with Cunha as a inverted winger. And Dorgu playing LW with Shaw playing more inside/inverted at LB. I feel like a LW is more a priority before LB, especially if Amass recovers in time. If not, Hall is an expensive stop gap imo.

Diomande over Ndiaye please , Perfect environment for him with Cunha taking a lot of minutes giving him time to get used to the PL and adjust and develop, Not putting the Everest of burden on a young lad like we typically did with the last management . Even just the impact from as a sub he will have will be massive but he will push Cunha to the limit if he wants to keep stating . Also is identically very good on the right , So the right wingers need to step up too or hes starting over them .

Ndiaye good player but he is not the profile we need , Diomande is already a top player destined to be world class , Way better than even a Olise at his age .

  9. I’m gonna have to watch some Diomande. Sky have been really good for Utd in recent seasons right? I never know who to believe links wise but I remember they’ve been okay???

  10. Always thought hall was a decent player when he played against us with Chelsea a few years back

  11. I think we also need to make some shrewd signings as well, like Gray/ Bergvall, or Fernandes, depending on who goes down.

  12. Ndiaye is awesome but Hall would be a dream. Incredible player. Diomade feels like a Ponzi scheme. I’ll pass.

  13. No way we are getting 3 players off Newcastle even in our prime. Max I see is 2 players and that will cost us quite a fee

  14. I’m here for Hall, I’m bored of us signing crap left backs from abroad that still leave us playing Shaw in 2026

  15. Feels like a very “here’s what players are in form right now, let’s link them to United” type of article.

Hall’s been one of Newcastle’s best players this season and they won’t be selling him. Ndiaye has a contract with Everton until 2029. Leipzig iirc quoted 100 million for 19 year old Diomande.

So that’s Tonali, Bruno g and now Lewis hall 🤔 yeah I’m sure Newcastle are going to let that happen …….
