Not a lot to see here…

In short they're bidding to run a big athletics thing in London in September 2029. And the club is saying no to using the stadium.

I guess Sullivan is trying to work out how much they'll pay for the privilege… I'd think that if they can meet the cost, then we'll be at Wembley or similar for a few home games. Though I've no idea what the league's stance would be.

A lot of discussion still to have, and it's a long way away… back to your cornflakes.

  1. I don’t blame Sullivan. One, the stadium owners seem to give us no flexibility, so why would we? And two, us being able to stop them having athletics during the football season shows how rubbish the deal is, and the owners may be more inclined to sell the stadium to us.

If it did happen though I reckon we’ll just schedule our away games in that time, the league have done that for us before. International window should be at the end of the month too.

There’s no way the assertion is correct that the Athletics World Championship is the third most popular event in a four year cycle. You would think the Cricket, Rugby and Women’s World Cups would have it beat at the very least.

  3. Maybe the club can be clever (for once) and use this to negotiate having the women’s team play there.
