Transfer Politics, Fan backlash, uncommon opponent strategies, sulking players, rotating egos. He may or may not have the mentality, energy, skills or drive to face all that. So its a risk management exercise. Which is worst for the club, picking Carrick and falling short, or picking an Ancelloti or an Enrique and falling short. With the last 2 the board has someone else to blame, not if they appoint Carrick. Would love to see Carrick appointed and succeed though.
