  1. Not it wasn’t, he was degrading and I’d hate seeing him go like Salah this season, he left at a perfect time if you ask me.

  2. No he’s only getting more old and injury prone. It’s time to find his replacement.

  3. it still hurts but it was obviously the right move,to properly send him off & not have the lines blurred between him currently & him as our legend

  4. I think so. I don’t think he’d be playing all that much but his presence in the locker room would be huge. Most of our struggles seem to come from a complacent mentality. That is something he never tolerated and it really feels like we’re missing someone who would set that standard in training or in games.

If he doesn’t leave we may not have brought in Cherki. Kev is an all time great, but it was time and he made room for the next generation.

  6. He was willing to lower his wages. Depending on how much I could have seen him taking a back-seat, mentoring the younger players and being subbed on in the second half to see out some narrow leads with his calm and experience.

Don‘t know if that would have been in his interest, though. Seems like he still wants to play

  7. No he was getting past it & has been a ambassador to city he was starting to get injured. I wouldn’t like to see de Bruyne just sit on the bench in his prime arguably the best midfielder in prem & the world

No, I didn’t want to see him go but the value he provided compared to his wages was unbalanced at this point. I could see keeping him as the nostalgic pick but moving him on eas better if he still wanted major playing time.

Unfortunately for him, the decision made has proven to be right so far as he’s been injured much like he last season. I just hope he can get healthy and have a final World Cup experience.

No it wasn’t. I don’t fully agree with all these comments saying that he wouldn’t have any place in the team, because although he is injury prone I do still think he’s good enough to give us some wonderful moments.

BUT we needed to move on because this season needed to be a transitional season where we focused on all the new incoming players and helping them mold into the team. If KDB was still here players like Cherki and Reijnders would have seen far less game time imo.

  10. His play and injuries really took a toll last season. As the years keep piling up, it’ll only get worse.

Not really the argument though. We should’ve kept him for what he’s done at the club. The best player in our history and when he wanted to stay, they said no. I don’t know. We’re in a “rebuild” but depending on what his wages would’ve been, he’s easily could’ve stayed for his leadership and “moments”

No. Even if he was willing to play for free, and stayed 100% fit, i’d say still no, at some point you have to move on and give game time and responsibility to the younger players…

And this is ignoring the fact that he would’ve been a bench player which doesn’t feel right for a club legend/captain

We had a heap of these posts last season.

I think it was the right time, especially when you see the games he’s missed this season. It also allows other players to play and get better this season and going forward.

Nah, he was gone before he left. His form was going down and he wasnt delivering as he usually did. we are better giving more minutes to players like cherki and looking for his replacement.

It wasn’t a mistake. We all love kev dearly but he was ageing and was always injury prone while being on massive wages. Just look at him currently at Napoli where he was out for 2 months and those were crucial months with key games that could make or break their season. Could we have offered him a contract on lower wages and given him a modric role? Maybe but Kev always said he wanted to play every game so that he could be fit for the world cup with Belgium rather than to be sat on the bench and be used a sub and offer moral support to the youngies which is why it would obviously have never worked out. In the end it was better for him to go to a league thats less physical and competitive so that he could keep on playing because he’s body just doesn’t want to stay fit, it betrays him.

No… He was out for over 4 months bc he got injured shooting a penalty…

He still has the vision and passing of course, but his body is just giving up on him.

If City kept him, he would’ve give great 20-25 minutes per game to avoid another serious injury. And his salary was really high for that role.

My favorite player of all time. Yes, in the immediate no in the long term, which of our new signings would not have come in if we extended his contract? Sadly, he isn’t the long-term solution to where the squad needs to go. I think the club should have given him anything he wanted, just out of respect for what he brought us. A 1-year contract extension shouldn’t have been out of the question. Still watch his Napoli highlights!

  17. He won us a treble and domestic triple crown. He gave us everything, let him live and trust the vision for the future. Buy a shirt if you’re feeling nostalgic.

Yeah ofc, just don’t feel like a great separation cause it wasn’t his choice, would have been nice for it to have been his choice to leave especiallyafter his incredible run , kinda like how Kroos left madrid

  19. Dude he took a penalty and shattered his hamstring he’s only been back for a week. He is never available like he was when he was young. Rather have Cherki Bernardo tijj who can play a lot of mins rn to help prepare for the new era
