Idk if it’s just me, but the more I read about Johan Cruyff, the more it feels like modern football is basically built on his ideas.
Like Total Football, the whole Barcelona philosophy, even how Pep Guardiola sets up his teams it all kinda traces back to him.
And it’s not just what he did as a player, but as a manager too.
Makes me wonder if he was actually the most influential person in football history.

The answer is absolutely yes
Honestly kanye west is the most influential
Yes
Absolutely. Without him we don’t have Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Pique and even Pep as he made La Masia. He also invented tiki taka aswell as total football. Without Cryuff Barca and football itself wouldn’t be what it is today.
The most? That’s highly debatable and subjective
Top 10…sure
Top 5…sure
But no1 is not easy to pick
In Barcelona football… absolutely. Undoubtedly.
Maybe? Sure cruyff is the main man behind the Evolution of football to what we now know It as today but that doesnt happen without Rinus michels and there are probably a lot of butterfly effect moments and people that lead to that point
EN Cataluña seguro.
Probably, yes.
One of most influential tbh. Cruyff, Helenio Herrera,Jean-Marc Bosman come to my mind.
100%
The real question is,
“Is there anyone other than him who’s more influential in football?”
No doubt
