Such a shame he left. Could really do with his pace and desire in the attack this season

is it just me who doesn’t like when they talk all formal in their comments(including all footballers) like these guys were good friends and the other is referring to him to his face as legend

We Miss You Diaz you meant more than we thought

I’m not gonna lie, I preferred gakpo over Diaz last season, Diaz seemed like he just ran head first always.
Obviously reflecting on last season and watching this season, I made a mistake and would much rather have Diaz.
Sorry guys, my fault the league performance is crap

Luis Diaz pining on this sub is some truly grass-is-greener phenomenon.

Remember when people wanted Gakpo over Nunez/Diaz?

Hindsight is always 20/20. Love Diaz and it’s hard for some to see your ex succeed.
Not many complained about the spending spree and would likely do it again if we could go back. But the usual denial about Diaz being poor is just sour.
He was a part of a bigger picture. He may not have been the purest scorer but there is no arguing he contributed to the overall success of the team whether by twisting defenders in knots or running the lanes or just hyping up the crowd. He pulled the opposition team to his side of the ball and gave Mo and others more space to work. And his intensity was always on display. That level of contribution is what we are lacking this season.
On the whole the team feels like ill fitting pieces because they just started playing together. But that’s what Slot and Co wanted. Unfortunately for us it exposed Slot. He’s suffering through some poor decisions and drops in player performance too so his mistakes are magnified as well.
To me this season has been a fascinating study on how important the intangibles are in unifying a team. It’s insanely difficult to get everyone to work towards the same goal,.coming off a championship, if you replace the sweat equity of players that have played together for several years together with high priced new players that haven’t yet shown each other that level of sacrifice or commitment. Sure they’re all great players but they’re not connected.
Sadly, this season will end soon. Slot will likely be gone in the summer along with a few of our favorite players but a new era will begin and we can chalk 25-26 up as a massive hangover from the best party ever. #20 was the best time ever!
