Every word this man says is where we are now. The excuses for the players, the lack of responsibility from the board, him actually defending the fans.
It felt insane to hear this from him at the time – and maybe it was, but I think these words will ring out until the owners are gone

It’s like playing monopoly and always landing on go to jail and never passing go.
It all ultimately stems from the top. We claim to be a big club, and have the revenue for it, but don’t put it in practice on the field by hiring the best people or the top talent. We buy players who are clearly good but not yet GREAT, but who definitely have the knowledge and self-belief that they could be – which tends to lead to inflated egos and the desire to move on after a few years when progress slows. From our standing in the league, Europe, and the board’s promises, us fans also now have extremely high expectations and are quick to turn on players and managers when things don’t go our way.
It all leads to a constant vicious cycle where the team often crumbles under pressure or scrutiny, even with a completely different crop of players to what Conte had. The entire framework is fucked – we’re not a project as we won’t give anyone the time or patience to establish one, and we’re not a success-now club because we won’t provide the consistent backing or short-term vision needed for it. A mentality shift like that takes years of consistent, conscious effort to change – and ENIC ultimately don’t want to rock the boat that is making them money hand over fist.
To be fair, at this particular moment, the club did their part to boost up the atmosphere for Forest. The players let us down and fans/players need to accept that. Apart from Gray, Richie, Danso, and Tel it felt like none of the other players were really trying.
Crazy its a completely different set of players yet the same problem.
Except from our captain
I fucking wish we were here. 4th place with Harry Kane and Sonny still in the team. Crying our eyes out because Stellini and Mason took us to 8th by season’s end.
You know, rather than 17th for the second season running and circling the drain of relegation with many members of our squad not seeming to give a fuck.
I wonder what was the main issue Conte mentioned. Because he never said “we are hiring third options to save money” or “players here do not have a commitment to the club” or I was promised X and received Y.
You can read a lot in between the lines but I always wondered what was the main issue. A lot of the players he brought in himself so I suppose it was mainly about not investing? And if it was about that, was it different from what was promised? I do not believe Levy said to him we would buy 100M players every window.
The Conte rant was absolutely right. However the context of the situation was what made people angry at him. We won at City off an incredible comeback, then lost 1-0 to Burnley with absolute shit tactics. We had to comeback to draw 3-3 v Southampton.
The difference between then and now in terms of players is huge. Romero , Sarr , Richarlison , Bentancur, Davies and Bissouma are the only ones who remain from that squad. Remember too that these are some of our core players currently too . So the problem still persists.
Even if you take into account the new players, look at the player profile we target. Always the cheaper option which means a level lower in technical ability but also (massively) a huge downgrade in mentality. I suppose that differentiates top players from the ones at the next level.
Even if you get the top players you need an environment that promotes a gratitude to play for the club and to keep winning. Right now , like it or not every player who joins us w only one aim , play well enough in the Premier League to get a move elsewhere. That feeds into the lack of culture here.
Because the club would rather have yes men at the helm then face the uncomfortable truths that multiple managers, including Conte, have been vocal about for years.
Conte was a twat, and this outburst was incredibly unprofessional, but _every word_ he said was, and still is, 100% true
I haven’t watched this for a while and I actually forgot how hard he went in saying everyone was finding excuses for the players. WOW is this shit true. There’s no excuse.
Everyone was focused on what he implied about the club and board but damn, that resonates.
I wasn’t even mad when he shit-talked the club.
If anything, it was refreshing to see someone with a winning mentality publicly call out the club, the owners, and the players. He was spot on as well, regardless of how he said it.
The writing has been on the wall since late Poch, yet the club has constantly fucked shit up.
When are they going to wake up and realise that the real issue at Spurs is them? Changing the manager and changing players does nothing when the people making those decisions are incompetent halfwits.
Fucking cretins.
Same owners, same plight.
I am one of the only spurs fans who loved hearing him say this and hoped it wouldn’t lead to him getting the sack. Great manager made us better than we are
Romero casually walking back is the ultimate disgrace!!!
