This coach was the first to tell us that the players here don’t care and aren’t bothered, but we didn’t believe him at the time.

I see selfish players… I see players who don’t want to help each other.

This is the story of Tottenham: the owner has been there for 20 years, and they haven’t won anything.

If you want to continue like this, you can change the coach—many coaches—but the situation won’t change.

He was a dickhead, but Conte is bigger than Spurs as a club. The mentality and standards our owners have imbedded into the clubs culture is laughable compared to Contes. That man has won how many league titles as a player and manager, he’s on a different planet to us when it’s about winning.

The funny thing is that since he’s had a go at the players for not wanting the pressure we’ve almost changed our entire team and it’s even worse now, these players get up for it in the CL but can’t buy a win for 13 games now, with us as relegation favourites.

With Conte it’s almost never the message that’s wrong but how it’s delivered. The club got away with it because he made himself the enemy with the fans.

Yes of course, but to be honest he described the issues but not the cause and not the solutions and I’m still searching for what those are.

The missed opportunities to build something special is the upsetting part. We were in positions that some clubs would dream of and we’ve consistently tried to save money, buy promising players that have failed to deliver, instead of buying top talent. And if we go down, it’s going to put us back an easy 5 years or more.

  5. Yep, what he said wasn’t wrong, it was how he said it. No one is bigger than our club regardless of who they are. I do wish Enic had listened though

Yes but it’s not like he cared about the club, he cared about himself and his reputation

No, he was blaming everyone for his failures but himself.

Case in point, not only was Harry Kane our greatest goalscoring threat but had spent the previous 2-3 seasons being one of our main creative threats, but Conte cast him as a Trad 9 and came to the conclusion that it was somebody else’s fault we suddenly stopped creating through the middle.

  8. He was partially right, but a lot of it was deflection too. He didn’t say anything that was news to anyone, let’s be honest.

It’s what he said about the players that stays with me most.

Watching Romero today arguing with the ref and ambling back slowly into position with no urgency – just before we conceded the 2nd, in that moment nothing justified Conte’s remarks more than that

Of course he was and mugs in the fan base got all annoyed about it. Made it all too easy for Levy and the club to throw another under the bus

You know he had a pop at the players too? Accused them of being selfish and not putting their heart into it?

Who’s still playing from Conte’s last game? Porro, Romero, Sarr, Richarlison, who else?

You won Europa with Ange …

Players looked great first season under Ange.

  13. Of course he was. The owners had such an amazing opportunity with Poch and Desk and they squandered it and have been using the club for their own gains for years. Everyone needs to go this summer.

Did most people not agree with him at the time? He basically said the club is fucked because the owners don’t want to win and the players would rather be elsewhere, most of which has been blatant basically since poch

They have won since his departure. Had Ange been kept think this would have been a much different season. Doesn’t excuse attitude among the squad but still think it was a mistake to fire a coach that Justin the first trophy in forever.

  16. Right about the owners and management

The Club deserves better but shouldnt be defined by them. Unfortunately it is at the moment. But I will be crying with happiness when my club is free from the shackles of ENIC.

I feel like most players come to Tottenham and use it as a stepping stone for them to join bigger clubs

  18. I 100% believed him, even back then. I didn’t even mind him going public about it, shit needs to be talked about in order for it to change, sweeping under the rug never achieves anything.

  19. I simply think these guys have no clue what they’re doing. Greed is the easy answer, but they’re not that smart for even that!

  20. He was right and he was also a complete dick who threw everyone under the bus. Both can be true.

  21. Absolutely.

Cumulatively, for hundreds of downvotes for saying he was 100% correct.

    The truth hurts most people.

This man wins the league at EVERY club he goes to. It collapsed for us and he left without any trophies.

This should’ve been a huge alarm bell
