At its core, Chelsea prioritises financial sustainability over immediate sporting success. Rather than chasing trophies at any cost, the club’s leadership appears focused on building a self-sustaining system in which revenue, player development, and long-term value take precedence. In this model, trophies are not dismissed, but they are treated as a by-product of good management rather than the primary objective. This philosophy aligns closely with modern financial realities in football, where regulations and economic pressures increasingly require clubs to balance ambition with responsibility.

Chelsea adopts the similar Brighton principles: investing in youth, trusting analytics, and building a squad that can grow in value over time.

During the era of Roman Abramovich, Chelsea became synonymous with a win-now mentality. Heavy investment in top players and elite managers brought consistent success. That period shaped fan expectations, embedding the belief that Chelsea should compete for and win major honours every season.

Ultimately, Chelsea’s priorities have been redefined. The club is being repositioned as a long-term project, one that seeks to combine smart financial management with eventual sporting success. Whether this approach can deliver the trophies that fans expect remains uncertain. For supporters accustomed to immediate results, this can be difficult to accept, particularly if performances on the pitch do not match the club’s historical standards. What is clear, however, is that Chelsea is no longer operating under the same philosophy that once made it one of the most relentlessly success-driven clubs in world football.

  1. Aren’t we breaking record after record for pre tax losses every season? We have neither.

  2. I mean I miss Roman and dislike Clearlake, but we were cheating under Roman and have been fined and transfer banned several times for that cheating. The club should be sustainable *and* win trophies, maybe start by not overpaying for unproven talent?

Ugh I love it when the team I support makes so much profit

Edit: Are we even first in profit???? I swear we’ve lost the most this year

Edit 2: so we’re actually 20th on the pl profit table with -355 million which is double the loss of 19th place totenham. Cheers

It doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t feel like we’ve done anything to become any more sustainable

  7. does he understand that with a lack of success the value of the players will decrease significantly? how do they want to run their model then?

There was no reason for fans to put as much faith as they did in these bums when they came in. Having competent and successful driven ownership is not the baseline in football, it is actually quite difficult.

I am actually sad they don’t realize that change has to come from the top. Structure, knowledge and know how at the highest level and of the highest quality is required to perform in such competitive environments. Gambling on under-experienced people is just irresponsible and disrespectful to the competition. We are paying for their arrogance.

    > long term project

Long term projects means nothing when we’ve already got 4th manager in 4 years.

Long term projects means nothing if our marquee signings such as Enzo feel discontent with the boards’ incompetence to build the squad.

Long term projects means nothing if the first thing we think about when signing a player is “Can we resell this guy later?”

Long term projects means nothing when we seem allergic to buy defenders for the same amount of attackers because defenders are not sexy enough.

Fuck Eghbali. Fuck Blueco. Fuck Clownlake. Fuck Winstewart. Fuck Kinetic.

  10. Then why the hell buy a club like Chelsea where trophies are prioritized? Go buy a different club, someone in midtable where you can build that kind of model, like Bournemouth, Leeds, or Everton. We should be taking notes from clubs like Bayern, City, Madrid, not Brighton. Fuck off, Eghbali.

  11. We aren’t even sustainable at this point.

Record loss -> Risk of not getting UCL.

Our recruitment has been flops. Our owners are fcking clueless.

You know nothing Behdad. Football is the least profitable industry. Go and buy fcking AI company if you want profit idoit.
