  1. If that Salah shot went in, our season last season would have been PL + UCL. The positivity from making it to the QFs could have gotten us to win the Carabao cup over Newcastle as well.

Well they won’t have donarumma this time around which is a big plus for us. However their forwards look sharper than last year

We played them well. Improved so much from the first leg, but were pretty unlucky and lost a lot of steam after FT.

Also, seeing Diogo there is heartbreaking

  4. tbf as massively unlucky we we were at Anfield, we were very fortunate in Paris to have came out ahead. still think its wild we started the game as gung ho as we did when we had a lead

  5. I used to think that if Salah goes behind Mendes to the far post with his first shot instead of being super predictable, he wins the Ballon D’Or. But in hindsight, we weren’t playing well enough to win the CL anyway… so it would have just gone to Lamal, which would have been ridiculously undeserved

Not that I’m holding it against Ali after his heroics in the first leg and some of his saves on the night, but it still hurts to watch that Vitinha pen. Still, we had the chances to take control of the tie. Hopefully they can be as ruthless against PSG as they were against Galatasaray earlier in the week.

This is the first time I’ve seen Diogo since it happened 😢

We were unlucky. Hit the post twice. Like slot keeps saying, it was a great game.

  8. It was a great tie, we got absolutely spanked all over Paris and somehow came out with a win. We looked completely rejuvenated at Anfield for 90 minutes a week later and lost.

I genuinely think we’ll have them this time. It’s going to be painful, but my hope is that this team full of champions are going to realise in that second leg that they’re basically playing for their season. Get past PSG and into a semi final, and things are suddenly looking a lot different.

(As a caveat, I do think we’re going to win the European Cup every year.)

  9. Neil Atkinson of The Anfield Wrap has repeatedly made a good point regarding this game. Due to taking a 1-0 lead home to Anfield, it would’ve been completely inconceivable to plan for penalties where as PSG had that in mind and it showed.

Such a fucking scruffy goal to concede as well that.

Who knows what would have happened after this but we should’ve gone through this round. People remember how we got dominated in Paris but they forget we were good value for the win at home and we ended up losing.

  10. If it goes to penalties this time, for the love of God sub Ali off for Mama.

I love Alisson. One of, if not the best goalkeeper I’ve ever seen. But my God is he useless when it comes to penalties…

If there’s one negative you had to pick for your goalkeeper to have it would be that, but sometimes, it’s required.

  11. PSG at Anfield were mostly a block when we attacked them so it made it harder to score. Our style of moving the ball slower worked against us as it has done many times this season.

  12. the other major mistake was, taking off Szobo, Macca before the penalty kicks. best conversion % in team. it was on Slot as well. He put Nunez, Jones on duty who had a shaky season and low morale was expected.

  13. So frustrating to see Konate on PSGs first goal. Just gets pulled towards the ball like a moth to the light, then does not close the space left behind by himself which PSG subsequently exploit. He is a good lad, but some times his decisions are detrimental to the team.

Honestly we were great for a good portion of this game and unlucky not to have won something in normal time.

We were however about 50x more lucky not to have lost the first leg 10-0

I remember people blaming Ramadan on Mo not playing well. That annoyed me so much.

  16. TAA was cooking in that game. the moment he got injured i felt like we are cursed

Omg we should’ve scored atleast 3-4 this game . Hopefully this time we can convert a lot more !

We played well. Also, we beat them 1-0 at the away game.

What we need this time is still speed! They have lots of young players who can sprint. If we can outrun them, ensure our passes cannot be intercepted, we’ll be able to win both away and home games. Remember also, Donnaruma is no longer there — that dude was pretty tall with long arms.

I was super impressed with our speed and overall performance against gala. That’s the momentum we will need.
