  1. Suppose Edwards won’t outlast his current contract then, if the whole task he came back to do is no longer on the table.

Also doesn’t really bode well for the health of football in those countries if we looked at them all and thought it would be a losing proposition.

  2. Guess thats Edwards in the mud, probably Hughes then as well and with them two gone Slot gonna be next.

  3. I’d be very surprised if Edwards extends his contract and that would probably also mean Hughes leaving too

Interesting then because it’s the only reason Edwards agreed to return to the club.

  5. So uhh I guess Edwards will be off then? Upheaval in the boardroom staff this summer on top of potential coach change is not what we need imo

Far too late joining the multi club train, should have been done 5+ years ago. Delighted we’re not going through with it, fuck multi club ownership

If Hughes goes off to Saudi I wonder if we’ll get Edwards filling in for him before he leaves at the end of his contract

Really confused by this certainty by people that this is some big failure? They thought something might be a good investment opportunity, spent 2 years carefully analysing their options, and then decided against it because there was nothing worth the investment. Its a real nothing burger

  8. Fantastic news. I know it’s being shelved for financial reasons but multi-club ownership is morally repugnant, don’t want us anywhere near it

  9. Sounds like a bargaining tool. Can negotiate a lower price if we appear uninterested.

  10. Multi club ownership is a plague on modern football so that’s good news but it does beg the question what happens with Edwards now if this is one of the reasons he came back to begin with

  11. could be amazing to get a “defacto” feeder club somewhere that english/european players can play easily. (like scotland may be)

    oh well.

    there goes that dream.

On the same day LeBron James (he’s also invested in FSG) said he’s not interested in buying an NBA team anymore. Not sure if there’s anything to it, but it’s interesting timing.

  13. Kind of disappointing imo, would’ve made it easier to get talent from abroad, especially South America, instead of paying huge fees later on.

Slot, Hughes, and Edwards all leaving in 2027? Good lord. Shades of Salah, VVD, and Trent. This could be worse.

  15. Morally this is good. However, can we go two tears without drastically changing everything in the sporting structure? Can’t see us building anything long-term with how much change there’s been recently

  16. All fine with this, just need to make sure we have an avenue to SA and spanish players though.

City Football Group – Manchester City – 13 clubs

Saudi PIF – Newcastle United – 5 clubs

Red Bull – West Ham (minority stake) – 5 clubs

    INEOS – Manchester United – 3 clubs

    V Sports – Aston Villa – 3 clubs

Evangelos Marinakis – Nottingham Forest – 3 clubs

Black Knight Football – Bournemouth – 3 clubs

    BlueCo – Chelsea – 2 clubs

The Friedkin Group – Everton – 2 clubs

    Tony Bloom – Brighton – 2 clubs

    Kroenke (KSE) – Arsenal – 2 clubs

  18. So FSG have sold the Pittsburgh Penguins, they’ve cancelled plans to buy an NBA team (or get a new team as part of a league expansion), they apparently view the Boston Red Sox as a “middle market team” now rather than one of the bigger teams and now this?

This either means they’re all in on us and plan to help make us a global sports powerhouse, or they’re gonna look at selling us too

  19. Sounds like transitioning period will be until 2027 at least. We are going through the motion again with potentially all of Edwards, Hughes, and Slot leaving, with all our old guard too. Gonna be scary

Good news. I know it is not because FSG had a change of mind, but rather this than gutting another club and turning them into a feeder club.

I don’t mind them buying another club in South America like Argentina/Brazil. That would be a good place to scout future talents. But buying another club in Europe isn’t a good idea.

  22. Could be related to the nba expansion announcment. It seem the vagus bid gonna be more expansive than first thought (7 to 12 billion, MAD), more competition. LeBron, i assume their mouthpiece is saying he isnt interested, could be a play to pressure the NBA

Didn’t we change the whole set up of the directors of the club & FSG for this? Seems weird they have shelved it completely. Does this mean Edwards is leaving?

Edwards, Hughes, Slot all will have 1 year remaining on their contract. There has been no news regarding Slot extension. Hughes leaving for Saudi is an open secret. This brief tells that Edwards will leave soon too.

    Another restructure to happen soon.

Happy with this, never liked the multi-club idea. Also not terribly fussed if it means Edwards/Hughes are leaving tbh.
