  1. It seems that Avellino will certainly seek to extend the loan if not try to buy him. Promotion remains unlikely. I will be interested to see if we try to take the dirt cheap sale, or invest in our future by countering their purchase and keeping him. Send on loan to a Serie A club or perhaps bring into the fold to work as understudy to a more experienced Pro such as De Gea…

But before any of that happens, we have two GKs. Can we shift Di G that easily?

I have long liked Daffara. Hence the article I scribbled above…though I need to sometimes remind myself of the risks the club balance by showing confidence in youth and the reality that jumping up levels doesn’t always show the same quality. Its a little different in GK though. They face similar shots at any level. Obviously the quality of the shots increases as you go up the leagues but I suspect its not as huge a difference as for other positions.

I thought Savona and Mbangula made the jump from Serie C to A impressively. It can happen.

And Daffara is a stand-out this season in the second, not third tier.

Would be a great story to see him seriously considered over the Summer, as it would with Puczka, perhaps Gil and others looking ripe for swift promotion. We cannot have a squad of kids, but to see some given the opportunity and LS (the new management beyond) to believe in them would be encouraging.

  2. “Pretender” seems like the wrong word. That would be more akin to someone like Leali. I would think maybe contender would be more apt?

With that said, he is definitely one to keep an eye on!
