Is everybody getting their hopes up for a 4-0 win because of the 1-1 vs Liverpool lmao? I think a draw and that’s being optimistic. Of course a comeback would be a fairytale. But imagine the morale boost of everyone associated with this club, even at the cost of a few extra games.

really confused by all these posts, who even cares about CL right now anyways?

Athletico have as many injuries as we do. Who knows … Mostly likely defeat, but sport is unpredictable.

I refuse to have any hope again this season. If they win anything and avoid relegation it’ll just be a happy surprise. But I’m not hoping for anything after this year.

I get the hopium, but let’s be realistic.. we’re still playing with a bare bones squad.

I’ve got a shirt from that night in Amsterdam. The wife’s trying to bin it, but I’m fighting for it like Lucas Moura did in that match

  7. In the grand scheme of things, this game doesn’t matter. Nottingham Forest matters way more. We can’t afford any more injuries or excessive fatigue.

Thing is before that Ajax game I reckon Poch put a no fear attitude in those players. Probably made them galvanised and ready for war.

Tudor doesn’t strike me as a manager that does that. Probably will be like that assembly at school with the uncharismatic headteacher talking about safety

Would be ecstatic with a win on the night and avoiding any injuries, plus the crowd cheering the players off at the end. Beating them on aggregate is fantasy at the current moment.

  10. I think we will get it into OT

    I think VDV will score.

I think it could be an amazing match for the neutrals as well

    I choose to believe

Spurs making a comeback in their current form from a 3-goal deficit against a strong Atletico would be just about the biggest miracle/fairytale in CL history.

I would be ecstatic if we won, but I would still be plenty satisfied with a solid performance that proves that we’ve still got the fight in us. A final of score of 2-1 would be great. Just not a disastrous outcome like the first leg where the match was over in like 20 min bc of individual errors.

I think it’s extremely unlikely. The reality is the team is not good enough, especially with who is missing due to injury.

  14. I’m hoping we’ve kept the grass really fucking long and spent the last few days practicing long balls to muani and solanke. If they can practice on and put out a slippery pitch, we should do something similar.

Don’t think it’s gonna happen but all I want to see is the same fight in the players when they played Liverpool

We’re going out and that’s fine. My only hope is we do it respectably and claw back some dignity from last week.

No. That team had a lot of quality, even if Poch wasn;’t getting them playing well at that time. This team is ass.

  18. Anybody who thinks there is a 0% chance and we should give up is a loser. Is it realistic? No. Am I gonna be hoping for a miracle? Yeah, obviously. No reason to not hope. To Dare is To Do.

  19. Another Brazilian will take the place of Lucas tonight. I can hear the commentator screaming “richarlison!!!!!!” after his hat trick

  20. onesimo_wizard on

I want a really solid error free performance to build confidence. The deficit could well be overturned, but in reality let’s win, keep it tight and build some momentum

  21. Only realistic way is score early at the very least go in at the break ahead

And we can’t concede at all if we do it’s done. Probably already done but early goal, bit of luck like a penalty or red card and who knows

  22. amdy_brixton on

Second legs are definitely as much mental as physical.

The only thing that matters is getting the first goal. As early as possible is kind of ok but even a little after half time is fine. Then for your opposition, away from home, the first doubts creep in. No one can hear themselves think. The home fans go into overdrive and, for the players, now with ultra focus, anything becomes possible. Oh boy.
