Match ‘ended’ 18th Jan 9:59pm GMT.

After all the shenanigans walk offs & the sort the match ‘officially’ ended at 90 +30.

ANNOUNCEMENT: 17th March 9:30pm GMT

It took CAF roughly 58 days to get to a formal decision.

Senegal was disqualified and stripped of their 2025 AFCON title because the CAF Appeal Board ruled that their players' walk-off in the final constituted a forfeit under tournament regulations.

The Grounds for Disqualification

Article 82: States that if a team "refuses to play or leaves the ground before the regular end of the match without the authorisation of the referee," it shall be considered the loser and eliminated from the competition.

Article 84: Mandates that any team contravening Article 82 must lose the match by a 3–0 scoreline

  1. I like Brahim but the way hakimi and Brahim were behaving at AFCON was pathetic. Playing for Real Madrid and PSG and resolving to towel stealing is shameful.

I’m not surprised though the way FIFA and CAF president reacted to Morocco losing, it was very obvious they didn’t want Senegal to win

  2. I am genuinely confused. The Senegalese team deserved to win the match fair and square yes. But them walking out no matter what the call was; didn’t make sense to me. Disrupting the game for so long should have had some repercussions right? Like even a small touch here and there in the game can have a huge impact on any game but the Senegalese team walking out surely had a much much bigger impact on the larger scope of the game.

  3. Officially the number 5 ranked nation in the world. Yes I’m shameless I don’t care. I’m celebrating it 2 months later 🏆🇲🇦

I didn’t want it to happen this way but rules are rules, my genuine question is will the awards for best player be revoked now that Senegal lost, and awarded to Morocco, any chance for the CAS to cancel this decision?
