The BBC has made a little documentary series about Scottish ultras. I found this article quite well done. Doesn’t really provide so massive insight but it gives a balanced look into the basic aspects of ultras.

Theyve killed traditional stadium atmospheres and wreck anywhere they go.

There is good in giving a sense of group and community that the scene brings, especially in the lower leagues it’s probably attracting more local fans to games that feel part of something.
The bad is all the nonsense and “gangs” side of it with the violence and robbing each others gear etc. cut that out and it’s good for the game up here that lives and dies by attendances
