Matt Law: Chelsea director in ‘foul-mouthed exchange’ with fans: Finkelstein told fans that “it’s f***ing obvious we’re building one of the best teams in the world” – Liam Rosenior agrees. Finkelstein also said Enrique wouldn’t be right for Chelsea – Enrique says he doesn’t care.

I actually like Rosenior and would be happy to give him next season. The directors however are a joke and it’s clear the board have no clue what they’re doing.

  2. – Danny Finkelstein believed meeting with a supporters group was private and would not be made public

    – Lord Finkelstein, who is a columnist for the Times newspaper and was awarded an OBE in 1997, also told the group of supporters that there is no statistical relationship between managers and results

    – and that Paris St-Germain’s head coach Luis Enrique would not have been the right appointment for Chelsea.

    – Lord Finkelstein was not named by the group, but Telegraph Sport has confirmed he was the director in question and he believed the meeting was private and would not be made public.

    – The discussion became heated when the director responded by telling us players will mature as they get older and that, to them, it is ‘f—— obvious we are building one of the best teams in the world’.”

    – Asked if he agrees with Finkelstein’s assessment that Chelsea are building one of the best teams in the world, Rosenior said: “Yes, I do.

    – Finkelstein is a lifelong Chelsea supporter and was appointed as a director by the Clearlake Capital-Todd Boehly ownership with a view to engaging with fans and listening to their opinions

    – On Finkelstein’s assessment, Enrique said: “I don’t care, it’s not important. I am proud of being manager of PSG. That’s the most important thing for me at this moment.”

  3. These are the people in charge of the club man. Absolute clowns. How on earth do you turn a top team into mediocrity in such a short space of time.

Also this is the idiot that justified Israel bombing Palestinian’s so fuck him on top of that.

Holy, the level of delusion is absolutely unreal by the directors.

You can’t build a world class club with the mentality of Brighton run by a bunch of muppets.

This is why the Fernandez rumours are so interesting. If he goes then their strategy is an undeniable failure.

  6. I think they thought it would be easier and their ego means they refused to adapt.

I’m sure this sub will feast on this article and not give two shits that this guy doesn’t really have much say in anything and is actually the “mouthpiece” that everyone claims every journalist is.

I’m sure this sub will also bitch about the owners not talking to fans in the coming months after this private meeting was leaked publicly by said fans that were part of it.

This guy seems like a douche and saying what he did is stupid as shit…but he is LITERALLY the “mouthpiece” you lot have been looking for.

  8. Mate, stop the count.

    This is embarrassing.

    Absolute clowns.

These men should not be in charge of the club. They are criminals for what they’re doing with Chelsea.

  9. “There is no statistical relationship between managers and results”

    Lmfao

  10. Do they really think these young players who are highly ambitious will stay here while we win fuckall instead of going elsewhere and fullfilling their potential?

The delusion on some of these guys is genuinely unbelievable. Absolute clownfest

I knew these guys were fucking nuts when they implied Roman wasn’t running the club well despite him winning everything there is to win in club football

  12. If I made as many mistakes at my job as our directors have I would have been handed my P45 ages ago

  13. The fans have to collectively unite and hurl abuse at Liam during games. It’s nothing personal. Because he has chosen to be the via medium and mouthpiece of the board, he can also relay the sentiments of fans without having to say anything.

So Matt Law just repackaged and spiced up a bit several days old public announcement?

    And this is news? Lol

I don’t necessarily disagree with the intent, but like back it up with some intelligent purchases in the next window to prove it. The fans are losing patience because its the 4th year of this shit and the gaps in the squad are clear to even the most casual of observers. If they just buy some fucking defenders and a goal keeper who aren’t wildly incompetent, this team will improve massively.

  16. That “managers don’t matter” thing is something some people think, the thing is though, they believe the biggest factor in league position is how much the club pays in wages. Yet isn’t the goal of the club to lower the wages.

I like Rosenior, think he’s doing well with the good pieces he has (namely, the offense). The defense the directors have put together is shambolic. I don’t agree with people saying we used to have a top team and these directors have ruined it, that’s insane. We haven’t won the league in nearly a decade, our UCL win in 2021 was a mixture of clubs adapting slowly to COVID, a very fortunate draw prior to Madrid in the semis and classic Pep overthinking in the final, and was pretty much the opposite of this team (elite defense, atrocious offense).

We haven’t had a truly elite football club that was capable of winning multiple trophies since early doors Conte and early doors Jose round 2. A lot of selective amnesia here.

  18. criminal-tango44 on

we were told to be patient because it was a, what was it, 4 transfer window strategy? and to judge after that? we’re well past that.

who can dig out the quote? they’ve said that multiple times a few years ago.

because i AM judging that this ‘project’ fucking stinks. they’re incompetent, arrogant hypocrites. why the fuck do we still not have good CB’s? why do we have 1 starting winger available? why, even when we have all wingers available, only 2 are decent? why does our bench look like the starting lineup for a mediocre Championship team? why have we gone through 10 billion managers already, where’s any stability?

“Liam Rosenior agrees” – don’t even fucking start. of course he agrees.

We’re not a big club anymore. We’re Tottenham, will have the odd top player every now and again but they will eventually move on to bigger and better things. Will start with Enzo/Cucurella and Palmer/Estevao will follow

F**k that A**hole Finkelstein!! It’s about time that all us Chelsea fans started to Nut Up on these pathetic Yanks would’ve destroyed our Chels!!! 😡 BlueCo OUT!!!!!!

  21. Oh man, this should be fun for me and my replies…

I actually love the attitude. I want to see that competitiveness come out of the directors. I want them to show that level of emotion.

Before everyone loses there mind on me, the reason I view this as competitive vs stubborn is that I actually think the team they are building is one of the best teams. The players they have locked in for the vast majority of roles are at the top relative to their position. There are obvious glaring holes and misses that need to be addressed.

I simply disagree that the owners are only here to make money. They are competitive af, so losing will elicit this kind of outrage.

  22. SubparCurmudgeon on

owners – f—— obvious we are building one of the best teams in the world

also owners – here’s Market Opportunity Liam Delap

  23. We are doomed with these owners. They will pat eachother on the backs while they cement us as bottom half team.

  24. tacobellwether on

Only thing that’s “fucking obvious” is our place in the table, which, in case you haven’t noticed, is yet again nowhere near the top. Fucking clown.

  25. Plenty of real reasons and indications to be critical about the ownership. But I wouldn’t take this one too seriously, we got no context for quotes, it’s a completely onesided account of a supposedly private meeting where tempers clearly boiled over on both sides.

Finkelstein seems to be a hard head, no idea why anyone thought it would be productive from him to argue with this bunch of idiots (judging from the people from the group in this sub). Just send someone a bit more diplomatic, just a bad look. We got enough real problems.

  26. CaicedoBrickWall on

George Benson had a video about this situation since he had met with Finkelstein previously. It’s a fairly level headed take given how inflammatory the media is trying to make this

  27. We need a significant fan protest that is organised and consistent against this shambles
