We're from the same "comarca" and next-door neighbors with his relatives, and some friends. So, the debate always comes up: "Who is he most comparable to?"
Yeah, it's too early to tell, and comparisons are always flawed. But a fun and wholesome get-together discussion, though.
I mean, the kid recently set up an "Olmo Time" finish against Sevilla, scored a brace against Atletico, and did a striker's surging run and composed finish against Mallorca—all in Camp Nou!
Naturally, neighbors and friends' debate is heating up here! Share your thoughts, culers!

i’d say rodri
More like Rodri and he has the potential to be better.
He isn’t a single pivot or even a true defensive midfielder. He plays very high up the pitch, often higher than Pedri.
he is like rodri 💯 percent , has the built and can bully players off the ball easily if we becomes more physical plus he is very good in aerial duel just like rodri.
the most smilair thing is that he is also a goal scoring DM like prime Rodri and Bernal is still only 18 and can change more to something different.
very excited for him.
Marc Bernal is more like Lewandowski.
He doesn’t play like Busi anymore. Flick developed him more like Goretzka now
He can play very high up the pitch – ok hear me out – this might be a weird comparison but Cole Palmer
Tall, lanky but dribbles like he has low center of gravity
He plays the game as a cam from the cdm role and it works.
Schweinsteiger
More like Bernal
Ah yes, better, the greatest of all time.
Honestly his best playstyle is more like Frenkie than a traditional 6 like Busquets or Rodri. He is very good at carrying the ball and has a knack for scoring goals. He seems more confident closer to the box than in front of the defense. He is more of an 8 than a 6. His physicality and defensive ability make him capable of playing as a 6 but you can tell his soul yearns to play more as a box to box. A good comparison would be Yaya Toure, tall and physical and often perceived as a 6 but is really a complete box to box.
Busquets biggest strength was cutting passing lines and beating the opponents press, none of the Barca midfield players have the same profile maybe pedri has some of Busquets traits but like beating the opponents press but he is not a true CDM.
Hear me out: Declan Rice
Pogba with less flair and better defensively
Hes not better than any of the players u mentioned, wish he was
Stylistically he is closer to yaya toure. But with better tempo control and average defensive workrate for his age.Struggles in 1v1 duels.Monster in aerial duels.
He is neither of those players. He is just Bernal, and I want him to stay that way.
He’s definitely not better than either of those not even if he plays at a high level for the next 5 years in a row. Don’t get wrapped up on the hype.
He is his own player he doesn’t share much with the two you mentioned other than his position. Busi was not a sprinter but rather a stand still player who was unnaturally good at turning and finding space. Rodri is more of a direct player and destroyer. Bernal has a little silky touch to him and good at finding space to turn and run into
The player I think he resembles the most is Toni Kroos. Bernal is obviously much taller. One thing we haven’t really seen in the first team yet is his long range shooting – which is very good.
I think if his body fills out a bit and he learns to play as a defensive midfielder he could be more of a Rodri.
Ultimately I think he will land somewhere between the two.
In Build and Defensive Prowess he’s like Busquets
In Attacking movement and Finishing he’s basically Thomas Muller
In Physical Intensity and Press he’s Like Goretzka
Passing and Other aspects he sorta plays like Rodri.
Overall , we have our selves Another Generational Talent
To me he’s like a hybrid of Busi and Yaya.
Why compare him to anyone, just enjoy his games . Comparison is a thief of joy
How does Rakitic sound, does that work?
Fluid positionally, more offensive- than defensive-minded, almost no flair, very consistent, and can be relied on for the occasional goal. I do think he is already above Rakitic’s level though.
Also, I just saw that when Rakitic arrived in 14/15, MATS was the main GK. This guy has been loved here for 10 years, it’s sad how a (very) sour end kinda spoiled it.
More like rakitic
It would be best for him to be coached by Guardiola, he could become the best in the world – Guardiola is well known for developing elite number 6s.
After seeing him play, I really don’t understand why he was compared to busquets, aside from the height.
He’s like Bernal.
IIRC he’s mentioned before his football idols are Busquets and Pogba. Also I think he’s more of an 8 compared to a 6, maybe like a Yaya Toure?
But i’m really excited to see his progression
He’s a combo of all their skill sets. He even attacks higher than all of them which I like

His influences are Busquets and Pogba. So both?
He is not at all like Busi. Onlylazy people thinking tall + Barca + midfield could think that.
Bernal right now is flashing some kind of crazy segundo volante profile, with less emphasis on dribbling, but more emphasis on playmaking AND off ball movement in the box, which makes absolutely no sense on paper, but makes a lot more sense given his development history.
If you made Harry Kane play in the midfield, that might be the hypothetical player that Bernal is starting to look like.
Out of these options? Frenkie. I used to love Frenkie’s involvement during the Koeman days and feel Bernal has similar moments where he pops up to score a quick goal.
