I just wanted to ask, who would you guys see as the best candidate to replace Pep once he eventually leaves?

Yesterday made me realise that Arsenal are always just good enough to get a result (2 late goals) whereas we are not. This made me think of the unthinkable… what if we got Mikel Arteta to succeed Pep?

Now I realistically think it would be better to go for someone like Kompany or Enrique. However, if Arteta can do this with Arsenal, how much better would he do with City’s squad, finances and infrastructure? He’s already been here before so he would probably hit the ground running. Only issue is his style of play which would be extremely boring. But sometimes you need to play boring and pragmatic football in order to guarantee success.

Enrique would be an amazing choice. Not sure if Kompany would leave everything at Bayern and come to us.

  2. I’d only really be happy with Kompany as a replacement for Pep. Enrique would be good too, but it wouldn’t make me happy the way Kompany coming back to City would. I don’t think Kompany would be next though.

Arteta? He ain’t leaving Arsenal lol

If Pep leaves by the end of this season I think we get Maresca or Xabi.

If he runs down his contract we might get Enrique.

Kompany is the ideal successor but I think it’s too soon to go for him, let him finish his job at Bayern.

It’s prolly gonna be Maresca and xabi goes to Liverpool. Long way down the line it’s Kompany. I’d want hansi flick tho rn

It’s impossible to say because we don’t know when Pep is leaving and who will be available when he does leave.

  6. Realistically we’re not getting any of those three.
If we keep it real we’re getting Maresca. Maybe they’ll go for Alonso. I would kill to have Kompany but it’s never gonna happen.

I fully believe that this is Pep’s last season at City now. He looks like he’s completely ran out of road by this point. But I don’t think the next manager will be Kompany, he won’t leave Bayern after just two years when he’s contracted until 2029.

I think it will most likely be Enzo Maresca. A short term appointment that will likely only last a few years before Kompany eventually takes over. Now before people on this sub start to have a meltdown they need to bear in mind that Maresca only had 1 full season at Chelsea and won 2 trophies, one of them being the Club World Cup.

They also looked good earlier on in the season before his relationship with Boehly fell apart. I think there is a genuinely good manager there and with the players he’ll have to work with there compared to what he had at Chelsea I think we’ll be good under him.

He’s got his coaching badges 👀 Bring Ferna with him as part of his backroom staff

It has got to be Enrique followed by Kompany as Enrique seems to leave his job in 2-3 years. Otherwise if he performs well, and wants to stick here, all up for it. Xabi will also be a decent shout, but I believe he will want to manage Liverpool.

Arteta isn’t coming back to city, he only came to city before cause you don’t say no to the chance to learn under pep.

Don’t be surprised if nagelsmann’s name appears when pep does decide it’s time to go, they were very interested in him before, imagine the interest is still there.

    Arteta ain’t leaving

Enrique seems to leave clubs on regular basis.

Kompany might be a solid choice.

We’d absolutely cook with Enrique, problem would be fitting Haaland into the pressing system. Khusanov, Nunez, RAN, Guehi,Gvardiol, Nico G, NOR, Bernardo, Marmoush, Semenyo, Rodri (and Elliott Anderson) would absolutely cook with the press.

That said, I think Kompany would likely be the boards top choice and I wouldn’t mind that at all.

They say Arsenal fans are delusional but this takes the cake.

Alonzo is not coming to city while there might be a vacancy at Liverpool.

I won’t even address the arteta delusional take.

  14. Kompany is the obvious answer but we might have to wait have a stopgap manager before that happens. Enzo Maresca fits that description.
