Why would our fans just randomly start battering a group of guys who said they’re only there to support Barry? Lol

It seems like it’s either possibly more than what has been interpreted, or overall damage limitation after cooler heads have spoken to him.
A mixture of both, likely.

seems like there’s a lot of conflicting evaluations of what’s happened and it’s probably not useful to speculate until there’s a bit more clarity. Neither want to jump in and defend him or attack him for this while there’s so much ambiguity.

Sad to see, I hope Barry continues to invite his friends and family to games and that they feel safe to go without incident.
Being accused of supporting Arsenal is a horrible thing and my heart goes out to those affected.

My take on this after Barry’s 2nd statement.
I will never change my view on violence in any context, regardless of reasons, it has no place in football period.
We can only based our judgement on what was said by the people involved. As of now I have still not seen any pictures or video of those “Arsenal supporters” making a scene, like many claimed them to be celebrating and rage baiting Everton supporters.
Even if there are, Barry clearly stated that his friends and families were not those people, they did not wear Arsenal shirt nor supported them. The people who allegedly were from another group and some confusion may have caused them to be mistaken for each other.
Regardless of all this they say he says stuff. I am somewhere disappointed that so many people jumped for Barry’s head because of this. Saying he should leave just because he was protecting his close ones. Reactionary online is such a problem that people seems to decide to trust random, no proof comments instead of giving our player the benefits of the doubt.
I am in support of Barry and will always be against violence. May the investigation shine more lights into this issue. Thank you all.

I really don’t see how any more posts on this situation is helpful at this point tbh. It’s only generating wild speculation from either side.
The club should probably review it’s policy of putting family and friends in the away end as this isn’t the first incident around a players family fighting with fans and it’s also unfair on supporters. It’s 2026, the club or players could easily afford hospitality tickets if they want to go. But it was also completely unfair that the club gave all employees priority and 2 tickets for the new stadium so I don’t expect it to change.

Doubling down when there’s been multiple accounts of his mates not only being Arsenal fans, but celebrating Arsenal scoring and goading our fans, is definitely an interesting take.
We wouldn’t randomly attack people in our own away end without cause.
Can see him getting dropped for the foreseeable, they’ll be too much bad blood and our fans won’t forget this any time soon.
There might have been a way back for him if he owned it and apologised but doesn’t look like that’ll be happening.
Say what you want about Beto, but shite as he is, you can’t question the lads attitude, even if his ability isn’t good enough.
Can’t say the same for Barry.
