Yeah, says he’s “almost 17”, when he’s about 290 days away 😂

A young English kid does well in two games, English media MESSI

Remember when Wilshere was going to be the new Iniesta?
Yeah, let’s wait for a few years.

That’s all I need to understand that what I’m about to read is silly

Let’s get off the hype train, it was an empty goal he scored into.
Arsenal don’t have a brilliant record at bringing through young players into their first XI.

This is absurd. He looks like a good player. There is nothing to suggest he will be even close to one of the top 4 best players even to grace the game.

And Jack Rodwell was a future England captain at the age of 18.
Is it limited to English media… this hyping players after a handful of appearances? Dowman looks to have a great future ahead of him but calm fuck down with the hyperbole.

John Terry also claims other peoples wifes/girlfriends.

This kind of hyperbole is not needed, why put that on a 16yr old kid?

English media at it again. Just look at their greatest hits:
Wilshere was the next Iniesta
Foden was the next David Silva
Barkley and Rodwell were the next Gerrard
Hudson Odoi was the next Hazard
Reece Oxford was the next Bobby Moore
Phil Jones was the next Duncan Edwards
Loftus Cheek was the next Yaya
Ravel Morrison was the next Rooney
Jordon Ibe was the next Sterling
David Bentley was the next Beckham
Even young players who managed to reach those heights (Alli) don’t necessarily stay there.

He’s more like a young Chris Waddle
Or recent footballing comparisons
a Mitoma or Kvaratskhelia
And they’re all heady aspirations
Give the kid a break

Nobody will match Messi, dude did one good cross and scored a goal with no gk, way to ruin someones career.
good prospect though.

They’re setting up this kid to fail. Another English talent with way too much hype before he reaches it and for sure the media will play their part to take him down.

This is the problem with the media in this country. I saw a TNT video where they clipped Dowman make a nice run and get a shot on target against Mansfield with the tagline ‘remember the name.’ Stop begging it.

Hes just another Arsenal set piece merchant who scored from a corner. /s
One thing here I dont think some on this post realise. This comment is not just based on yesterday, Terry mentions that he has seen him play before, when he would have been 14 or 15 playing against Chelsea’s academy side, so Im guessing U21. Anyone who has taken any notice of his development knows this is what has been expected of him, its not just a one off. He has been hyped as a generational talent for years. If it wasnt for the fact he was injured in a friendly against Man U we might have had this sort of thing 3 months ago while he was still 15.
