NotAProjectCFC: A group of fans met with a club director recently, and say they were met with arrogance and dismisivness. In the interests of all Chelsea fans, we reveal what we were told.
• On the departure of Maresca, the director said that a coach’s overall impact is overestimated, and that there is no statistical relationship between managers and results.
• According to the board director, problems with Maresca stemmed from him not being offered some of the same contract details that the sporting directors have in place..
• The director could not put a timeline on when Chelsea will compete at the top again, but that it was ‘f’ing obvious we are building one of the best teams in the world” The director denied they were being condescending and told us we have no more right to be upset than they do (despite the fact we are paying fans).
• The club’s effort to reduce the wage bill has been seen as a means of offsetting the spend on players so far, and the director was honest about there being no appetite to compete for more established Premier League signings for this reason. A handful of players that have been successful for us were given as some sort of justification for this approach.
• The club director spoke very disrespectfully about what was achieved under the previous ownership and of individuals involved in that time. In their view, the current ‘project’ consisting of vast expenditure and player churn is the only means with which we can hope to compete at the elite level at some point in the future.
• Chelsea simply cannot afford to compete for the likes of Semenyo and Guehi, and that players with resale value is a more realistic approach.
• The club director expressed surprise that, in view of the club still being 13 points off the top of the table at the time (this has risen to 19 points at the time of writing), in the fourth season of a ‘transitional period’, fans are not showing more patience. Although the director admitted they hoped for more progress this season.
• Luis Enrique would not be the right fit for us as manager, and John Terry is not the right fit ‘proffesionally’ and should not be involved in first team affairs.
• After arriving for the meeting, we were kept waiting in the foyer of the building for a while, as the club director was in another meeting with Chelsea-supporting content creator Matisse Armani
• We were told, in no uncertain terms, that despite having the highest net spend in the Premier League on new players since BlueCo’s takeover, that the club is struggling to compete financially with Europe’s top clubs
• The club director spoke very disrespectfully about what was achieved under the previous ownership and of individuals involved in that time.

If what they’re communicating is true
It’s both extremely worrying and completely expected based on how we’ve seen Clearlake act
They’re not just incompetent, they’re arrogant as well but then you’d have to be to keep this incompetence up for years

Probably one of the silliest things I’ve ever read

Just arrogance and ignorance they won’t admit that they don’t know what they are doing and would probably rather destroy the club than humble themselves.

I don’t know if all of it is true because frankly some parts of it are so unbelievably stupid that I find it impossible for anyone to say out loud. But the general tone is what we are witnessing with our own eyes. Clearlake simply can not fuck off quick enough.

This doesn’t surprise me one bit since most of the comments in subs are very similar. This is why calling out bots is essential. Shame Reddit can’t control bots!
There were smug before takeover and smug today and will be smug tomorrow while achieving nothing of significance. That’s a very unique experience across the pound. Just watch the news!

Not a fan of our board but this is convenient timing for this to come out. There’s no chance this comes out if we win last night

Man I hope this exaggerated. This doesn’t inspire confidence and makes them seem like they’re not gonna change course at all. Those transfer successes they’re so happy about aren’t going to want to stick around if we continue to be bang average.

Not sure why it was necessary to bring up John Terry’s complaints?

Lol how can you be this ignorant. So Pep and Klopp were probably just lucky guys.
If that was the case, then they could hire me as Chelsea manager
