Finally, the daily “should Carrick get the job” discussion, I wasn’t sure if it was coming today.
Position for what? Top 4 football the coming 5 years? We need a title winning coach – someone who brings that mentality.
The only coach we should go absolutely all in for and I mean literally pay for his kids college tution-kind of all in, is Luis Enrique.
No one else.
I’m so confused. These are elite ex players- how they don’t see how poor we’ve been these last 4 games is beyond me. It’s so reductive to say if carrick gets champions league he gets the job. The performances need improving – if we play the same as we’ve done recently and get UCL- I wouldn’t feel confident with Carrick.
If we get Champions league football then Carrick should be in consideration but he shouldn’t get the job immediately. If options like Nagelsmann or Enrique are a possibility then we should go for one of them. Carrick have been a great interim manager were the transition from Amorim have been smooth and he have stabilised the team. That doesn’t necessarily mean that he will be a good long term option though, especially with his lack of experience
So we’re back to running on vibes and short term results?
The performances haven’t been good at all and he already got found out. We’ve been good against top 6 but we’ve been that way because it isn’t a low block.
Every time we’re against a low block we’ve been shite
We are going to get 3rd or 4th. Get the CL and we’ll wait too long to make a decision. Buy no one and sack who ever gets the gig in November. Haven’t we seen this movie? It’s not a reboot, it’s the same movie.
i’m sure i’m missing a big name, but unless its enrique, tuchel, or ancelotti I don’t see why we should settle for another nonsense hire. Would rather keep carrick and stay top 4 until the new SAF comes along
Agreed. The target set by the club for Amorim was a top 6 finish according to reports. So if Carrick surpasses this then he should at the very least be the favourite for the permanent position.
However, serious improvement is needed over the last four games if we’re to secure UCL football!
I’ve been very happy with Carrick but I don’t think so. It’s one thing to come in for 15 league games and try to squeeze something out of a team that wasn’t yours and doing well at that.
It’s a whole different thing to then be given the opportunity to mould the team in your vision and build a long term title winning side. Two very different challenges and just because a manager does well at the former doesn’t mean they’re the right person for the latter.
Maybe one day in the future but I’d like to see him prove himself somewhere else first
Rooneys looking much younger than usual
I think “he [Michael Carrick] should get the job” is a bit too definitive, but i would agree with a champions league spot putting him in pole position, even if just barely ahead of like the “best” candidates of enrique & Nagelsmann that people mention
I think the reality is that there is no manager who will really guarantee success Amorim & ten hag, were up and coming managers, similar to Nagelsmann though less experienced, solskjaer was an “interim PE teacher” the same as carrick, Mourinho was a proven winner the same as enrique
The football structure United are building requires a “head coach” and not a “manager”. That was part of the reason for the fallout with Amorim. The biggest question is; which top level manager/coach who is available today will be willing to slot into the structure United are setting up? If two years down the road they have the same power struggle and fallout it’ll only look poorly on INEOS.
I’ve always thought, he does well, he ensures himself an interview. They might speak to some other guys and realise they’re not right.
Cba with Jill.
Who would win in a fight, Neville or Keano?
ENRIQUE IN!!!
i think if we can bounce back against villa this weekend and get a relatively easy win against bournemouth. i’d be good with giving carrick the permanent role.
