The tie and the game was going our way before that. We were gaining confidence and they were flat but that mistake changed all that. Suddenly that goal gave them all the confidence and we collapsed.

I agree. Got back to level twice, had the momentum at this point of the game and this mistake completely killed Chelsea and gave PSG a second wind. Chelsea are far too happy in possession to just start again so often and pass all the way back to the goalkeeper it feels like the team just invites this on themselves.

Why do we persist with this tactic?
Surely a coach would tell the goalkeeper ” If they come at you with a high press…play over the press don’t try to play through it”
For those of you not coaches…”Just kick it long…ffs just kick it”

I don’t know. 3-2 on bridge is well doable with the form we have, even 4-2 i’d say, but conceding 2 goals after 85 mins hurt man. The team that defended against arsenal for 70 mins in 2nd leg to not concede, somehow thought it was a good idea to go attack for the last mins with a leg at home ! I hope we get to see a comeback. 🙁

The problem is even the match commentators were calling it the whole first half. Yeah most the time they exaggerate Chelsea’s players mistakes, but this cast was all over PSG’s defensive woes also. After that many ‘close calls’ passes from the back , and even I (who understands the confidence hit of GKs being subbed mid-game; and the risk it may cause ), would of immediately had subbed him off for Rob at halftime. He looked shaky from basically the beginning. Statically at that point you sub your #1 to show belief, which usually translates to confidence for said #1 to show up second half (against a team he played immaculate against under similar pressure) and Rob would of at least kept this a 3-2 game at worse. Love Liam and his aggressive tactics, but this was an immature mistake that cost us the tie. Goalies are going to have bad games, especially being more prone to ‘high stake/ must win games. But preferring a back up over a game that Sanchez would of excelled in just as much, against a weakened good team vs a team Rob struggled against that as a team we failed to best in 3+ years is crazy.

There was no reason to play Jorgensen. Rosenior needs to own that. Hopefully that’s the last we see of Jorgensen. And I seriously hope the owners are looking for a permanent manager for next season. I think we’ve already seen enough to suggest Rosrnior isn’t good enough
