Alphonso Davies, Jonas Urbig and Jamal Musiala Alphonso Davies, Jonas Urbig and Jamal Musiala all had to go off in Bayern’s 6-1 win at Atalanta in the Champions League round of 16 first leg and are set for a spell on the sidelines. Davies tore a muscle in his right thigh, while goalkeeper Urbig has been diagnosed with concussion. Musiala suffered a reaction to the pain from his ankle injury from last summer. All three were thoroughly examined by the club’s medical department.

Just fyi, the german article doesnt call Davies injury a “tear” (Muskelfaser- or Muskelbündelriss), but a Zerrung, which translates to “strain” and is less severe.

Fears realized. I get the reasoning and timelines were followed but I just wish we could go back to January and take things even slower. Healthy enough to play doesn’t mean full fitness. Davies injury sounds like pure bad luck but with Musiala I would have preferred he had built some more back in terms of muscular strength and stamina before his appearances. This squad does run deep though so I believe in the lads picking it up and continuing to work as a strong cohesive unit no matter who is on the pitch this year. The words of Lucho and others off the pitch make me believe the foundation of this team will prevail no matter who is in the lineup. Let’s let Harry have the weekend off as well no need to rush him back if it was enough to keep him out yesterday. What is the plan with Neuer Urbig Ulreich will be the biggest question mark in my opinion
We just have to accept that for the rest of the season, Davies and Musiala will likely be our super subs. Definitely not bad to have, but they won’t be consistent starters this year.
Am I right to be really concerned about Jamals pain? Is this going to follow him for the rest of his career?
