Police Scotland Chief Constable Jo Farrell is questioning why there has been silence from both Celtic and Rangers in the aftermath of Sunday’s “disgraceful” Old Firm violence
Police Scotland Chief Constable Jo Farrell is questioning why there has been silence from both Celtic and Rangers in the aftermath of Sunday’s “disgraceful” Old Firm violence
Police Scotland failing to take even the smallest amount of responsibility for Sunday is wholly unsurprising and instead focusing the clubs for not issuing statements on active police investigations(?).
Rotten organisation.

Realistically it’s not as simple as both teams making a statement that says “here what our fans did was wrong and we condemn that”. It can’t be a game of finger pointing like the collective and the fan advisory mob have put out either. There has to be investigations into policing, into fans storming gates, into fans assaulting one another and even Celtic staff members being assaulted. No matter what either team say, there will be people unhappy about it.

Shower of fucking twats these “police” are
You can blame the clubs all you want but at the end of the day it’s the police’s responsibility to makes sure things are kept in order. Had some mad cunt decided to bring a weapon inside there could have easily been people killed

The one time they should be itching to put a statement out they choose not to do it.
At least Celtic and Rangers are just as inconsistent this year in the league and in the statement league.
Just use the BP method.

Seems that profiting off division and violence for 140+ years has left them both without a leg to stand on, damned if they don’t comment, risk slaughtering the golden goose if they do.

I would have thought both clubs would want to wait for an official police statement first given the severity of the situation.

100% – both bigot brothers have done their upmost to pass the buck and refused to accept any blame. Points deductions for both clubs is the only way to get the message across.
Honestly, you couldn’t make it up. The fans invade the pitch and start fighting and both clubs want to blame the police. Fucking hilarious….

Again, fans are at fault.
But this tells you everything you need to know about the policing. “if we make a statement it means we’ve done something, so the club’s haven’t done anything because they’ve not made a statement that changes nothing”.
They’re messages are prob in the same queue as Police Scotlands

Should both clubs have put out holding statements, committing to a second statement once an internal investigation has been done? Yeah, probably.
Should Police Scotland be trying to take the morale high ground and pretend that they’re without fault post match? Should they fuck.

I think she’s got a point.
I assume there will be investigations ongoing but something along the lines of we’re investigating the matter and lifetime bans will be forthcoming wouldn’t go amiss. I get that it’s going to be very difficult for Celtic to identify the people who trashed the stand but the pitch invaders shouldn’t be – same as the pitch invaders from the rangers end – personally I’d just ban all of the union bears though.

Presumably there are legal proceedings underway and neither club is in a position to say something?
I’d imagine the silence has come from advice of clubs lawyers rather than not actually wanting to say something.

Given the history, I’m unsure why police were so unready for both the start of the pitch invasion, and in preventing those invaders from leaving the pitch.

Rangers should put out a statement saying they didn’t want to give Celtic that allocation but were pressured by the SFA saying that they would enforce the 20% if they didn’t.

I get the police made a mess of the security alongside the stewards, but what do people actually disagree with, in respect of what she said?
People hypothesised that the clubs hadn’t made a statement because they were talking directly to the police etc.
Clearly that’s not the case, in which case it’s shameful the clubs haven’t condemned the violence and everything else that went on. In the eyes of the idiot supporter, (the minority thankfully) that’s as good as the clubs condoning the behaviour.

The clubs have made a rod for their own backs with their endless ludicrous statements.
