Spanish media and some fans will never admit it though. Bernal did what he could considering his experience and age but when you’re going against a team like Newcastle who call constant fouling “physicality” you need to be able to beat that press AND play the right pass.

When he’s in the midfield with Pedri it’s the best midfield in the world and completely unstoppable..

FDJ and Eric Garcia would’ve made a massive difference today. They both help Pedri look even more elite

Welp time to glaze my man FDJ again. People really underestimate his football IQ. When he plays in the midfield, he’s usually the one dictating the press, he knows when to start the press and from where. During counterattacks, he knows where to run to stop easy passing routes. One of his weak areas is that he tends to lose his man if the midfield is overloaded, a bit similar to verratti there, but again, that’s more of a system problem and less of an individual problem imo.

When in possession, he is one of the most press resistant players in the world, and has been for a long time. He breaks lines so easily, his distribution is great too, his passing is also world class. Anytime our players get pressed, he’s there to ease the pressure. His ball control is arguably one of the best in the world too. I mean, I sometimes don’t understand why he gets so little appreciation. Him along with Pedri are the reason we dominate games against big teams, they simply control the tempo of the game too efficiently. Obviously not discounting the remaining players but damn, these two are good, especially FdJ imo.

Also also, I haven’t been up to date with our matches for a few weeks so I didn’t know that he wasn’t playing last night. I saw the post talking about deserving MotM, and people were saying pedri/joan were the only good players. My first thought was, that is impossible, why isn’t FdJ mentioned? Then I checked the highlights, and saw that he was injured. Some of the errors in the game, that I saw from the highlights, would have been easily prevented had he been playing. Man, I glaze this guy a lot but he seriously is one of the most important players in our club.

  7. And people were downvoting me when I said he’s just as important as pedri to the team. Pedri is amazing, but de Jong helps him be more free and help the attack more

Midfield was getting overrun without the right duo there today. Underrated and should be given some love cause days like today show his impact poignantly.

fr de jong and pedri are the base of our team even if one of them does not play we struggle alot

  10. Dumbass Barça “fans” will shit on Frenkie and suck of Pedri but man, Pedri looks nothing like himself when Frenkie isn’t on the field

But acc to 90% of the fanbase, Pedri can win us matches without Frenkie unlike Frenkie lmao

No disrespect to Pedri but people need to understand and put some respect on Frenkie Ding dong’s name
