🗣️: “We came away with a draw, and it's a good result. We knew that coming here would be complicated. They press all the time, and you have to be precise. Maybe we weren't good enough on the attacking side."

🗣️: “We come from weeks full of tough matches. Today also required maximum effort. We arrived a bit tired. We had to know when to press and when not to. It's a physically strong team, and we had to choose the right moments.”

🗣️: “They have great speed up front. We put on a big match as a team. A draw at their place, and now we'll go all out in the return leg.”

🗣️: “Me and Espart (Xavi) spent a long time together. He came into the match with a strong personality and delivered a good defensive interception. I'm really happy for him."

Backline was rlly solid today even araujo was good except for the goal but we lacked energy in attacking side of the field which hopefully improves at home

The slight mistime created by the captain who was playing dumb games in an attempt to waste time…

Like how do you end such a good game, with such a stupid decision. Flick wouldn’t have even subbed him off if he didn’t pull out that.

Espart’s sliding tackle in our own box while 1:0 down at St James’ Park, in the first minutes of his debut. Cool as a cucumber. I love La Masia so much!

  4. Outside of playing long balls to no one, our defense really did step up in this game. Cancelo was being targeted by Newcastle but Martin and Cubarsi had a monster game covering everything outside of a few times where on another day Newcastle punish us. But we needed that type of performance, and now its basically 0-0 back at home, so we have 90 minutes to show our quality and get to the next round

Araujo doing his (newly acquired) snail work while being on the last minutes of a St James Park game?? How typical of him!!!

  6. Please kick Araujo out of this team please. He never fails to dissapoint in big matches, his consistency in fucking up is insane

  7. Xavi Espart gambit paid off big time for Flick.

When on those hard moments you need experience , an 18 year old goes and stops the 2-0 that leaded to to the 1-1

  8. For the goal we conceded, it’s tempting to blame Araujo for not participating in the defense, but it was Raphinha that didn’t watch the scorer and let him get through. Raphinha was helping Araujo defend as Araujo didn’t make it back from opponent’s goal line. Just so you know it’s not fair to blame everything on Araujo alone.

    Gerard Martin has impressed me

For Cuba, it is crazy he has to carry this kamikaze high line at 19 yrs old and he somehow still does it effectively

Araujo & Cancelo aren’t first choice FBs and it showed. Araujo was careless for the goal we conceded, also that drama he did on other side of pitch just before conceding.

All these 10 year old fans obsessed with the CL have no clue that games like this is what it takes to win it. This is the hardest competition in the world to win, especially for a team like ours where we only win by playing good football. You have to be very responsible and we were.

in an unrelated news, i just watched the spurs game, 2 slips caused two goals in Atletico’s stadium. I dont think it’s a coincidence. They set up that pitch to be slippery on purpose

Cubarsi has been on a different level since the Atleti game! We are finally starting to see his potential and growth rise. Absolute baller. 💪

Defensively alright, but the backline was way too weak when Barca is on the ball.

Only Cubarsi had the trait to play ball, but being flanked by Araujo and Gerard Martin as options to play the ball out does not provide any confidence, so Cubarsi was playing scared and safe but predictable too(which frustrated the heck out of Pedri who moved into position to receive and drive). And Cancelo is a 50/50.

  14. Totally unrelated but the English media is pissing me off with their biased opinions. Newcastle scored one goal against a tired a toothless Barca at their own home, but somehow they all believe Newcastle will beat us in Camp Nou with the way they’ve played today. Also, they’re all crying about the referee. He was terrible at times but i don’t think he favored us. The penalty happened at 4:20 and Nawcastle can feel aggrieved, but they’re all talking about the ref being trash and favored Barca and basically that’s the reason they didn’t win. They didn’t even create a clear goalscoring opportunity. They had half chances
