Dont come at me directly hear me out guys. The sudden surge in the hate for ferran torres in the fanbase has been outrageous like people are going all over social media trolling him and passing negative comments about him.
Yes he hasnt been the best player for us and i dont think he ever will be but the amount of hate he is getting is unreal at this point. Lets not forget guys this is a guy who lets be honest has never been able to really live upto the potential and hopes we had in him and he has never been starter quality for barca. But still if you look at his stats he will suprise a lot of football fans hes got 16 goals this season which obviously isnt outrageous or anything but its still pretty decent.
We all know hes never been a player who would be able to start every game for barca and replace lewa but in these times where we haven't been able to sign a striker i dont think you can hate him all that much.
Yes he misses a shit ton of chances, lacks physicality and he has his flaws but i think in all of this we have never appreciated the fact that although not the best or not truly upto the mark he has never been a complete wastage.
He doesnt score a shit ton of goals but he always pops up with them and i think even when we get an actual lewa replacement he should still stay at the club cause lets not forget that he has got his fair share of traits too he makes good runs, he gets into the right positions a lot of the time and is great as a super sub which we all saw last season.
I just wanna say that although he hasnt been the best but the amount of hate he gets from the fanbase is undeserved in my opinion.

Against Atletico Madrid, he played for 64 minutes with just 1 shot on target. That is just not enough for a STARTER striker.
While I agree that media hate is not fine, especially going to his posts about his birthday and chilling in holidays. But he does live up to the hate + he is not getting some unreal amount (not saying that it’s fine) Maguire had way worse with ManU.
the hate he gets is deserved, he’s our starter striker and Bernal has had more goals than him in the last 8 games. HOWEVER, the fans need to keep it in their own spaces. they need to get out of his Instagram comments and vent their frustrations on Reddit, Twitter or to their therapists. leave him and especially his family alone, they have nothing to with this.

Look obviously I despise any sort of abuse handed towards players as it can get way out of hand, but fans have s right to be upset with his performances as of lately because he’s been given so many chances and he has proved to the club that they cannot rely on him.
Also the “bench player” label should have no place at Barca. If ur unable to provide a reason that you deserve your place on the starting 11, you have no place on the club. He’s been getting away with so much mediocre performances for so long, but this season finally shun a light on how bad he really is.

I agree that people shouldn’t be trolling him or anyone on social media. But the trolls are gonna keep trolling. Criticism on the other hand is different and imo his criticism is well deserved. I don’t think his 16 goals are very surprising considering how many chances we create. What is surprising tho is how often he misses, especially given the equality of the chances that he misses. His hold up play isn’t great either, often he can’t even pass the ball back which is not what you’d expect from a regular starter.
He doesn’t deserve hate from the fans but he’s also not performing the way the team needs. Its just become clear that he isn’t the reliable goal scorer we need. I hope we are able to move on mutually this summer so he can keep playing and Barcelona can get a world class striker. That’s frankly what we need.

There is nothing that we have seen in the games this season that shows he is Barca material. His games have been so bad that people have lost hope that he could turn a corner. And he is still keeps on getting played since we have an aging Lewa and no other option. When Ferran plays it’s like we are playing with ten players as his off the ball play has also deteriorated. He is low on confidence and I hope he turns things around. But the criticism is definitely justified.
People are going to compare him to other Barcelona starting strikers. Ferran should really be just a sub and was bought to be one. Its not really his fault that he’s started 17 La Liga games.

Henry scored 19 goals in his first season with Barcelona. Ferran has 13 so far.
Zlatan had a strong start when joined Barca and then, he had one of those strikers moments.
The list is long, and those periods happens, even to great strikers.
I don’t think criticism of ferran needs to be repeated, but it comes to a point. It’s really fucked up how the supporters of the “more than a club” of club were one step away from online harassing one of their own players under a post about his birthday. I sure hope ferran doesn’t pay attention to social media because that would’ve wrecked his confidence which only make things worse
