We absolutely would have been better if we’d have kept hold of Richy a bit longer, assuming he stayed fit that is. However, I believe Illy and KDH are upgrades on Gordon and Onana with change to spare so happy with those ones.

Richy, yes. Id rather have the money for the other two.

As much as Gordon has earned himself disliked status amongst our fanbase, we’d probably be better off with him. Our current squad lacks pace (George does have it but he’s still young and shouldn’t be laden with expectations yet) and Gordon brings transition threat.
The money we got for him is less than we spent on Dibling. Ndiaye is better than Gordon though.
Richy, the polar opposite of Gordon in how our fanbase views that ex player. Although I wouldn’t really classify him as “true Center Forward” his goal per game ratio for us was about 1 in 3. So we probably would be better with him than Beto or Barry (both of whom cost a bit less than Richy). Could see him losing his temper during the worst of the Dyche years and the creative black hole that was our attack.
Onana, meh. Hasn’t been pulling up trees at Villa. I liked him, but I prefer KDH or Garner and both cost less than him and seem to want to fight more for us than Onana did.

Worse to all three
I loved Richy and rated Onana, but if we’d kept the latter we wouldn’t have KDH now and if we’d kept the former he’d look terrible in this Moyes system, if he was even a regular starter.
The selling of the whitest man in football was fantastic business for us and him.

Gordon wouldn’t have improved that much under us to be honest

Even considering his injury record at Spurs, having a guy like Richy who can put in a shift and get a goal would’ve been massive these past few years. I think he would have loved playing with the team we have now, always seemed like the kind of player you’d want as a teammate. You gotta love a guy who enjoys playing football and is always hated by the opposing fans.
Both Onana and Gordon had attitude problems and saw themselves as larger than the club. They did the bare minimum to get noticed and retaining them would have just left us with an unhappy player and loss in market value. That said both of them leaving probably saved the club with their large transfer fee to help with PSR so they’re water under the bridge.

The question being, you can have 1 back at peak form, Onana or Fellani.

Best case scenario we’d be in the championship if we hadn’t sold these guys, with a real chance the club goes bankrupt. Each one of these sales was essential to stay in compliance with FFP while giving us funds to stay competitive.

Could have done with Gordon down our right side last few years tbf.

We’d be bankrupt in league one by now.
I’d still bring back Richy in the summer if we could though.

thinking about how fun a Garner Onana KDH midfield would be makes me sad
Onana showed real glimpses, but we got great money for him and IMHO we’re a far better looking side with KDH in there.

Gordon seems like he’d be an upgrade on McNeil, but much more expensive.
Onana might not fit really well in this midfield. Garner is a must start, and KDH too, which means we’d need a really defensive minded 3rd midfielder, and Gueye does that great, but Onana was always trying to go forward. I’d say he’d be a downgrade as an alternative to Garner or KDH given that’s where he’d probably have to play.
Richarlison is just a straight upgrade. The thing is, he left because he earned a big contract and a chance at a run with a bigger team. It’s crazy to say now with how Tottenham is doing, but I was happy for him to get his shot, but now that we’re better, it’d be nice to have him back.

Ndiaye is streets ahead of Gordon. I think Garner is an upgrade on Onana as well (likely hence why Villa were sniffing around him)

Wouldn’t we have gotten relegated and perhaps gone under? Our PSR situation wasn’t very good even after selling these lads

Money aside we would be better with Gordan and Richy.
Gordan is better than Dwight and Richy is far more useful up top or on the wing than Beto or Barry.
that said, i would only bring back Richy.
Garner is better than Onana, heck Tim has had games as good as Onana

Where’s Digne and James?
All jokes aside, Digne, Richy yes. Gordon no morally, also no objectively. Onana no objectively but I want to say yes because I liked him, same as James.
