Benjamin Sesko’s obsession with self-improvement is beginning to pay off

    • becoming more ‘explosive’

    • NFL-style training drills

    • VR headsets

    • testing his reflexes at home

    • No 9 shirt decision

    **Athletic tweet**

Benjamin Sesko is obsessed with self-improvement.

    It is paying off.

He has scored seven goals in his last eight games for Manchester United.

**“It’s like watching Usain Bolt,” says one coach of his speed and power.**

    **Interesting Bits – Via Aggregators:**

Benjamin Šeško was presented with a ‘Šeško #9’ shirt during transfer negotiations.

He tried it on for size, looked at the #mufc badge and said this was exactly what he wanted.

**He did not take the No 9 shirt, however, out of respect for Rasmus Højlund.**

Nic St-Maurice, a personal coach who has worked with Benjamin Šeško:

**“It’s a bit like watching Usain Bolt in a sprint. He won’t be the best starter, but once he starts getting into that stride, it’s game OVER.”**

St-Maurice [one of Benjamin Sesko’s personal coaches]:

“I’ve been telling everybody for the past couple years that **he’s probably the BEST athlete out of all the football players that I’ve trained.”**

“Obviously, he’s got that left foot, right foot. You see that on the pitch. **But in the gym, some of the stuff that he could do, even when we played basketball, for a guy that size and that young, I was SHOCKED.”**

Those close to Benjamin Šeško say he would have stayed in the Bundesliga for another year to develop further, but interest in him last summer made that impossible.

**#mufc were told not to pursue him last summer if they expected him to be a 25-goal-a-season striker immediately**

NEW: Sesko could be somewhat obsessive — in a good way — about his own self-improvement, even before arriving at United from RB Leipzig of Germany. **At previous club Salzburg, staff went as far as confiscating the wristband he used to access their team gym, as they were concerned he was overtraining.**

Really hope that Sesko is given enough time and proper structure support from United to succeed.

  4. With Sesko and Lammens, we have listened to our scouts and it’s paying dividends.

This is a big simplification and essentially takes tactics out of the equation. But Sesko is:

    1) 6ft 5 and with a huge leap
    2) ruddy quick (evidenced last Monday against Everton)
    3) a very accomplished finisher (goals against Burnley, Fulham and West Ham for example).

It might be as simple as just getting the lad on the pitch and the ball to him.

Also, it feels like the club learned lessons from Hojlund. It was far too much expectation being the primary goal threat for a teenager. I know Sesko is a little older, but they let him integrate and settle. And now they are reaping the rewards.

As always, as a Slovenian United fan, I am just so thrilled he is proving himself. And the work ethics he is showing is something that I know United fans appreciate

Genuinely can’t believe that 9 months ago I was praying we’d get Gyokeres and not him

  8. Hard work, determination and talent. It’s so refreshing for us to have a young striker improving.
