He was pretty good today, wasn’t called up for much action but did fine and was reliable. I get that early on he could not start in league coz of unfortunate problems with the accident he was involved in but now that he is hopefully mentally recovered, why is he not getting any chances at least in easier fixtures? I know we are not looking for a starter quality here, but how would we know if we don’t even give him the chance, I don’t remember any blunders done by him or something and since its sure Sommer is leaving.. we should at least prepare him a bit even though he will be our 2nd Gk.

He can’t build from the back. That advantage of placing balls from the goalkeeper is not there anymore with Josep.
As a shotstopper though he’s just plain better than Sommer.
Do you realize that Chivu is in his first season and has the chance of his life to make a name for himself in coaching? Do you really think he’s sitting there like, “Let me give the backup goalkeeper some minutes”? He’s thinking he has to play his best players to win. He doesn’t have time for experiments. Only from the summer on, if he wins the league, will he have time to experiment because he’ll have “earned some time” thanks to that title. That’s the idea.
Im guessing the plan is to ride out Sommer till the end of the season and if we cant sign a high profile gk over the summer, Josep will be the starter next season
