__“Not particularly, really, no,”__ Carrick said, when asked by MUTV’s Mark Sullivan if he had a positive update on Martinez.

__“He won’t be with us. He’s not quite ready for that.”__

Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu and Matthijs de Ligt will also miss the Tyneside assignment, while Mason Mount is still sidelined, although he is approaching a return.

__“We’ve got one or two we’re trying to work to get them back – Mason as well, he’s getting a bit closer, so unfortunately it’s part of the game,”__ Michael added.

__“There’s always going to be people out, there’s always going to be people missing, but we’ll keep working as hard as we can to get them back.”__

  2. Martinez shaw and mount all need to leave. Quality players and not their fault but we need a starting 11 that can actually consistently start

  3. ‘Out for a couple of games’ is United speak for ‘won’t be seen or heard from for months’, I’m tired boss

  4. Gotta hope Maguire is fit, he was carrying the entire back four last match on his back until Maz came on.

  5. Hopefully Licha and Mount are back for the next one after international break. De Ligt and Dorgu seem like long term for now.

  6. Man playing one game a week and we have so many key injuries. Def need more depth if we’re competing in UCL next year

Honestly one of the positives from Amorim is the amount of depth we have at CB. I’m comfortable with Heaven, Yoro and Maguire, which, after losing De Ligt and Martinez, is more depth than most teams would have. Not ideal obviously, but I think Maguire and Heaven start against Newcastle.

he’s a good player but there’s no way we can offer him a new contract, way too injury prone

  9. and some fans were saying sell Maguire lmao. Imagine going into next season with Heaven + Yoro fit

Maguire and Licha have topnotch chemistry, both handling the ball exceptionally well, but as always, things just dont go our way.

Man. I would love to see a MDL / Martinez pairing.

Suspect that will have to wait until next year the way this is going.

One of the characteristics of Carrick is that he gives absolutely nothing, no updates on players, lineups, nothing. At times it frustrates us fans that we don’t have updates at the same time, it vexes the entire media landscape which thrives of spreading negativity around the club. I prefer the latter, can live without regular updates the club but it helps us massively to keep a lid on the negativity

Genuinely getting tired of this. Need stop with this

    -player gets injured

    – manager comes out next press conference and says it will be a short time period injury

Just give the player’s status on the next match, don’t put a time frame on it. de Ligt was supposedly a couple matches, it’s now going on 3 months. Martinez was supposed to be a week, it’s now over a week.

“Phew, it’s only one game”, said the comments after the initial announcement

  15. We need 2 more decent CBs because De Ligt and Martinez cant stay fit for a full season.

  16. Fortunately Newcastle ranks are apparently just as depleted (although not wishing ill health on anyone).

With the injury records of de Ligt, Martinez, Maguire, and Shaw, we’d be better off bringing in some defensive reinforcements in the summer after the midfield is sorted.

Need to find a replacement for him. Insane how much time he’s missed. Bayern seems ready to sell Kim min jae I think that could a decent replacement.

I know things can change rapidly with injuries, but seriously, whoever comes up with these “out for a couple of games” explanations for our injuries deserves a slap around the head.
