I wouldn't say Kovac's work is outstanding… but it's definitely solid. So all things considered there's no reason to fire him right now. But like boy does it suck this stability right at this moment in time.

All since Tuchel, we've been struggling to find our guy, and with great young coaches like Xabi Alonso and Cesc Fabregas on the market (considering Fabregas would be tempted for a "bigger" team after this season), and many of the greatest clubs manager roles filled, such as Bayern, Real Madrid (at least no interest for Xabi Alonso, for sure), Barcelona, Atletico, Man City, Liverpool (shaking, yes, but still), Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United (they found their guy for now), PSG, Juventus, Milan, Inter, Roma, and hell even Leverkusen, we could be a serious option for these guys, specially Xabi.

I mean, bundesliga, where he got his best performance as a coach so far, and a team with even more resources and tradition than Leverkusen (no disrespect btw, they are great), and most of the best jobs filled. We would really have a chance to get this deal done.

But yea, it doesn't matter, we are sticking with Kovac for the foreseeable future, and one more season without trophies 🙁

Don't get me wrong, I still trust Kovac to do a good job, but I have no question Xabi has a much higher ceiling.

Do you know where we came from? Kovac does great work.

The board around Kehl is questionable. Our squad is too thin.

Kovac is a great coach and gives us what we need.

  2. Xabi was good at Leverkusen, doesn´t mean he will fit in Dortmund. He really doesn´t have that much experience as a coach and only reason he got the Leverkusen job in the first place is because of his name in football. Kovac won against Xabi with this Dortmund team 4-2 away from home last season.

  3. honestly i have a lot on my mind about Kovac but i think he still has more to offer. He managed to steer the shipwreck after Sahin’s spell and even narrowly secured CL. These couple days were terrible but a lot was because of bad luck. Individual errors mostly caused CL elimination and bayern having a record breaking season.

  4. People need to be realistic about foreseeable progress, we can’t be like MANU and have the chance every season of extraordinary improvement because of how much we spend.

We need stable factors to improve on every year. That has been lacking until kovac. Even when it comes to youth which is his weakness, we have something to improve on. Idk if you listen to OTC podcast but our youth coach had an interview and some of the stuff was encouraging. Be disappointed for now but look at the pillers we have and don’t feel too discouraged

Dude, just get over it. The club has a loser mentality and the fans are exactly their mirror. Nothing will change unless some real shit happens.

  6. We’ve only lost twice in the league so far, both times against Bayern, and both games were close. Yesterday was even tighter than the first one. We haven’t lost to Leipzig, Stuttgart or Leverkusen. The teams we struggled against, like St. Pauli, have also caused problems for our direct competitors.

Getting knocked out of both the cup and the Champions League was extremely unlucky. Against Leverkusen we actually played well and were the better side, we just couldn’t score. Against Atalanta it was pretty balanced overall, but in the second leg we had a nightmare game: three deflected goals and a disastrous mistake by Kobel that led to the penalty in the end.

What I’m trying to say is that we’re playing at a very solid level right now, and that’s something a new coach would first have to reach. A lot of people rate Kovac worse than he actually is. A new coach isn’t automatically a better one.
