Guessand was a scape goat for our poor form. He got compared to Malen and Diaby right off the bat. I reckon are fans were a bit harsh on him. Glad to see him do well. Seems like a good chap

Horses for courses I guess. The player they are seeing and want to sign up this second is NOT the player we saw and just shows how bad at signing the right talent we were under Monchi. None of them fit our system, despite being good players and clearly talented

Reading their post match and every single comment was about Guessand they adore him. Calling him the regen of Zaha / Eze!
Which is a stretch. Happy the lad is doing well but consistency has been the aspect lacking from his game so be interesting to see if he can keep the form going!

Didn’t fit our system. Glad he’s doing well and we’ll make a small profit on him

  5. It’s a tactical thing. He’s playing as a high 10 with pace either side of him instead of build up through the middle and out on the right.

Could he do that for us? Sure, but we would need more pace either side of him, play other players out of position/ bench them, and change Emery as manager as he doesn’t play like that.

I think looking back, he was the best option in the price bracket we had at the time, was highly thought of and wanted by other clubs, stats looked good and passed the eye test so they went for it. I just don’t think his strengths can be utilised with us , always seemed apparent he wasn’t comfortable and always looked miserable, even when he scored. Can’t remember seeing him smile, ever!

If we can recoup what we’ve paid out on him and still make CL next year then all will be good. Or we do end up parting ways with Rogers, we make some good wide signings and play him how palace have.

  6. Fantastic that he’s doing so well for them and their fans are taking to him. If they trigger the buy clause everyone is happy.

There is no way he works for an Emery system of slow build up and neat link up play, holding shape rather than pressing high (one of many reasons Monchi is no longer involved).

We get our money back and get to try again in summer for someone more suitable.

  7. seems a better fit for palace than for us, happy for him. hopefully they do end up triggering the buy clause.
