  1. One good take-on which resulted in a scrappy disallowed goal and one very solid finish from a counter attack. That was it. Terrible decision making especially in the latter part of the game.

    Good goal though.

  2. I liked some of the things that he did. But we were exposed on our left flank for most of the game.

Carreras needed Cama to support him all the time, leading to an unbalanced midfield. We conceded the goal from that side and the ball against the crossbar came after Vini lost the ball in our own half.

We did not have a lot of clear chances and without the heroics of Courtois and the blocks of Rudiger/Acensio, we go out of the CL today.

That is not purely the fault of Vini, but I don’t know what our plan is while playing. The only thing we are capable of is playing the ball to Vini or Mbappe and hope for the best. Today he scored an excellent goal. But as a team we are not good at all.

If we face City in the next round (we know we will) we are out if we keep playing like this.

  3. We won, but I honestly don’t understand the hype for Vini in the comments. Yes, he defended at times and got the goal, but overall his performance was poor.

A perfect example was around the 65th and 70th minutes. Carreras passed to Vini and immediately made a forward run, dragging two defenders with him and creating space. Instead of releasing the ball quickly, Vini froze on it and killed the momentum. The same thing happened with Camavinga good runs, good movement, but no quick decision. Both were mad and started to gesturing towards Vini asking to play.

Even during commentary, McManaman pointed out that the attackers looked off and that Madrid wouldn’t go far playing like that they could have even lost tonight. Thankfully that didn’t happen.

A win is a win, but this was far from a good performance from Vini.
