People say “he’s not world class”, IMO, he’s not good in general. Koops defending was terrible too, but I still think De Greg should have had that shot.

I had my doubts since even last year and bit my tongue, “maybe we search for a long term replacement eventually or bring in another keeper to compete, a full replacement would be expensive”. He’s indefensible now and even if it’s a matter of form, no keeper should be playing this poorly ever. Remember Szczesny used to get shit on for having an occasional howler vs Udinese or whatever? This is worse, Di Gregorio is a non-keeper, the worst starter in the history of the club.

As someone who does not follow the club or serie a that closely: why not mattia perin? When I actually followed many years ago, I remember hearing his name as an up and coming prospect. Has he fallen so far that he is not a viable alternative to this? If not, then what is the point of having a backup?
