  1. In the middle of the week at 9PM. Many people simply can’t come to Dortmund if they have to work tomorrow.

  2. Dude, it’s Tuesday and in the middle of the night! People which have the Money for Tickets like that, are going to work Tomorrow in the morning.

I’d love to be there now, but can’t really drive 2,5 hours one way and go back to work tomorrow at 9.

  4. Plus Grönemeyer Concert in Dortmund at the same time and i bet quite some people chose that instead of the game.

  5. Bergamo had 4000 Tickets for their Fans but only brought 1500 people. The difference was handed back only a few days ago, and not completely sold to home fans. People who would have bought the blue and yellow seats, bought the pink ones instead, but not all of them.
    That’s my guess

  6. I guess there’re multiple reasons:

We secured a spot in the playoffs less than a month ago which might be not enough time for some fans to get time off work.

It’s “just” the playoffs and it’s “just” against Atalanta.

And we’ve played a lot of awful or rather unconvincing games this season to say the least. Football is entertainment and if it seems likely that I’d have a miserable 90 minutes with a disappointing ending then I’ll rather go to Groenemeyer or stay at home.

  7. I chose not to go, because i didn’t wanted to risk it to be stranded overnight somewhere. I do not own a car and usually travel by train. Since the railway track between Cologne and Wuppertal being closed at the moment there is only one option for me to get home after the game. That is taking the ICE train from Dortmund to Cologne, which i only can realistically make when leaving the stadium a few minutes early and later catch a regional train home from Cologne. Since it was the last day of carnival I simply did not trust Deutsche Bahn enough to make my connection in Cologne. And I know of a few people who had exactly the same reasoning.
