    ON THIS DAY 1995:

“Keith Gillespie Would Love A Birthday Goal” the front of the programme proclaims.

And the footy Gods (via referee Mike Reed) looked favourably on him that day, as a linesman and City keeper Andy Dibble conspired to gift him his first and second Toon goals, twenty four hours after he turned twenty.

John Beresford also enjoyed some good fortune as he crossed the ball straight into the far corner of the Gallowgate End net.(nufc.com)
