  1. Don’t think that’s the right call if he ever wants to play at a World Cup or just get called up. But if his hearts not in playing for Scotland then it’s the correct decision as playing for a national team should mean something.

I dont blame Barnes for this call. He is NOT Scottish, he is English. He wants to play for his country or not all.

I have Scottish ancestors in my family too but I am English born and bred.,

  3. Fair play. Hope he makes it – could see him getting a cap or two at some point, and that’d mean more to me than playing for another country at the world cup

Disappointed as he would have been an asset in an area Scotland are really short in but if he doesn’t feel he wants to one hundred percent commit then that’s totally fair. I hope it works out as well for him as it did for Anderson.

  5. I’m surprised by this, he is never getting in the England team and will never experience a WC, sad.

  6. Based on form, he’s doing better than Gordon so don’t understand why people are saying he has no chance

  7. Right call. He’s English and only wants to represent his country. Can’t stand players switching allegiances just because they’re not good enough to play for their country.

  8. Respect. He could’ve easily got a spot, but if he’s not feeling it he’s just let someone who truly wants it have that opportunity.

Perhaps he’s had some indication from Tuchel that he could make the squad if he does well.

  10. Can’t play for Scotland if you don’t see yourself as Scottish tbf, was never really an option.

There’s been periods this season where he’s been as good as anyone else in the frame. So why not? If Rashford gets injured, he could be on the plane
