  2. It will at least shut the doom merchants up for one night. They’ll be back on Saturday (Villa are very good this season).

  3. Tottenham are a good example of one possible outcome of replacing your manager when results aren’t good. Sometimes the problems are more fundamental, and like it or not, your best option is simply to support the manager you have and fix the actual issues.

    There is a universe where we sack Howe this season, replace him with Iraola/Glasner/Alonso and we are in Tottenham’s shoes this time next year. Of course it may play out differently, but I think people assume that changing a manager can’t make it worse.
