Curious to see Luis Diaz stats. Julian Álvarez is a machine, he is in a goal drought right now but he’s still so valuable is insane.

Not sure what is funnier, Mbappe’s stats or describing Gyokeres as one of Europe’s top strikers

  3. Gyokeres 👏🏼

Not the most technical player but he works so hard for the team and Arsenal usually look much better with him playing.

8 G/A in his last 8 games as well so seems like he’s starting to find some form in terms of output.

Bodes well for the rest of their season.

  4. Not surprisingly Enrique wasn’t talking out his ass, when he had a 1 to 1 talk with Kylian about defending and being a team player…

But he scores goals, so it’s okay, I guess…

  5. The color bars are a bit deceptive given that the percentage comparison is only against those in the same league. So Haaland’s Defensive Actions Regains is actually higher per 90 than Kane’s, etc. The stats here, then, and particularly the comparisons, seem as much (or more) a function of the league and club than the player.

Mbappe isn’t good enough to put in that Messi/Ronaldo levels of defensive “effort.”

The real take away from this is that Harry Kane is one of the most intelligent centre forwards ever.

  8. Alvarez man. What a top player he is. Also, Mbappé is an old school “My job is to score goals your job is to defend” kind of forward. As long as he scores I don’t know how these stats are a bad thing for him.

Does Mbappe produce enough individual brilliance to stand out as an alien (like Messi or Ronaldo) to qualify for the privilege of essentially reducing your team to 10 men when without the ball?

And please do not quote to me how many goals he’s scored since joining Madrid, stats without the context they were scored in is meaningless chaff (How many of them were pens? Has he showed up in the biggest games? Did he create those goals out of nothing or relied massively on service? etc etc)

  10. Kane is really interesting.

Shows he’s not actually doing a huge amount of pressing or running around, but is incredibly effective when he does. Such an intelligent player

Haaland used to be super criticized for lack of a defensive effort. When did he start putting in a shift? Those numbers aren’t bad
