At least he’s right about that. He really isn’t doing his job well enough.

He’s not done a good job since the beginning of the summer transfer window

It’s good to see that Eddie isn’t delusional about our current form and is taking accountability for it – which is always good to see a manager do.
The most interesting bit though to me was Trippier comments about the players needing to do better for Howe which to me shows that he hasn’t lost the support of the dressing room (which is something I think a lot of us were worried about)
So at least the problem is being acknowledged on two fronts now.

I can’t sit here and think that Howe is doing *that* poorly when I’ve seen our wingers and strikers miss sitters each game all season long. We had an awful time in the transfer market this summer, and it shows. I don’t think we are going to find anyone who can do better than Howe at least before the summer. I respect that Howe doesnt shirk from taking responsibility, but I can’t help but think the blame here should be landing mostly on the players.

Honestly, when you watch him he looks visibly more tired and less confident which, to me… looks like a man in need of a reset.
I’ve said it for ages now. I really like Howe, but I’ve lost faith in him. I think he’s even lost a little of faith in himsel. He looks like he could probably do with another year off to rest, reflect and grow like he had before he joined us.
He’s got plenty of flaws as a manager that feel like they could be addressed, but he’s not going to do that while burnt out and scrambling to try and fix the situation.

Second season for him trying to manage while in the Champions League. His coaching style is pitch heavy, so he really needs to re invent himself for these seasons where we play every three days. I hope we stick with him, because when he finally figures it out well come on leaps

The players are also not performing well enough. It’s a collective thing and I really hope we do not lose at Tottenham otherwise the narrative around the team will be extremely negative.

The players are disappointing Howe. That’s how it looks to me. They need to do better. Elanga has speed. Trippier should play as a defensive fullback and stop going forward.

Saudis need to start pulling their fucking finger out and stop being so risk averse and make some fucking investment off the pitch.

The players are all knackered. The players have got that “here we go again” mentality when we’re defending a lead. The tactics are wrong. The in game tweaks are wrong.
For me Eddie can have until we’re out of the champions league and then it’s time to go.

Agreed, time to step aside because he is not capable of taking us to the next level.

It’s not been good for many reasons but he’s earned until the end of the season. Have a rational, calm review of the season as a whole in May and decide what to do then.
Genuinely think sacking now would be outrageous unless he “loses the dressing room.”

It’s an honest and fair assessment. It’s been clear since the end of last season that the system doesn’t work. Whilst I appreciate the honesty and self reflection, a major structure change should have happened after Brentford/West Ham away, or after Sunderland. The season’s gone now. Too late. Also, the whole team is playing poorly. That’s more indicative of a management issue, rather than a player issue.
I don’t have much sympathy in the way of how last summer went. Eddie threw his weight around and won the internal battle vs Mitchell, which allowed him to spend the £250m on players he wanted. He chased after unrealistic targets, prioritised PL players, and now doesn’t give them game time.
At the very minimum, PIF need to strip away his recruitment powers and sack his nephew.

My issue is it isn’t just the missed shots – it’s the face that we look so poor as an overall performance.
We barely tested the goalie in open play and our best chance was a Thiaw long shot says it all. And this is consistent with most games I’ve seen us lose.
Before you say the Man City game, Man City stopped playing in the second half.

Blame lies solely with the players for me. The effort just isn’t there.

Let me guess, they baited him into an answer by wording the question in such a specific way that this would have been the only logical response, playing on his honesty when it comes to taking responsibility. Standard scum behaviour from sky sports.

I’m just pissed at our signings this season. It reeked of desperation after missing all our top tier targets.

How do players “play better”? They are not going out on the pitch to play badly. They probably feel like they are giving 100% are you telling me Trippier is going out and thinking “I’m only going to play 80%” today. Or “I’m not going to track that attacker, someone else will”
I think we have hit the ceiling with a few players and fatigue plays into that. Yes they are elite athletes, but running a marathon every week is a lot easier than every 3 days. They are getting knocks and niggles. They will be running out onto the pitch with aching legs and they will tire quickly.
We don’t have the squad to compete on 4 fronts. We will soon be down to 1 front if we are not carful with a bunch of crocked players.

Its fair to say that both are to blame. Eddie stubbornly refusing to change tactics and players not being good enough.
Watch any other team in the top 15 and you’ll generally see a dynamic group of players that pass the ball forwards with purpose. We play it around the back looking for an opening, like city did 3 or 4 seasons ago, just with players with about 60% the talent.
Take the reigns off and im sure we’ll have the old team of exciting players, right now its dull as fuck

We give the ball away far to cheaply in deep areas every bloody match. Eddie if your reading, please work on this!!!!
