Carrick has put Bruno at the best spot for him.
He can connect with 5 other teammates. It’s letting him to create chances in many different directions.
By putting him higher up allows him to take more risks to create chances with out too much punishments.

Not only did bronu touched the ball with the outside of his right (for the Mbuemo goal) he gave a quick glance toward Amad, that the City defenders and the goalkeeper for a split second shifted their focus to Amad and at that moment Bruno slip the pass to Mbuemo. I totally agree with you that Bruno is one of the best players on the planet. As you said, he relies more on his brain, and I would add that he has magnificent skills and a keen reading of the game. He has this very tactical positioning and movements that move the team forward with better quality and more effectiveness. Bruno reminds me of a great player I had the pleasure of watching in the stadium; his name was Cesar Cueto, and he was called the Left-Legged Poet. He is doing well with assists this season (where you would expect him to be) but again goals scored are terrible. 5 goals in 1808 minutes is a goal every 361.6 minutes and 2 of those were penalties. If you take out the penalties it’s a goal every 602.67 minutes.
Now he is back in his preferred role he needs to start banging them in. His minutes per goal numbers were much better in 2020 with 18 EPL goals.
During his 7 seasons he averages a premier league goal every 290.15 minutes but:
2019/2020 14 apps 8 goals 7 assists
2020/2021 37 apps 18 goals 12 assists
His game may be more rounded now but he was way better in 2020, around that time he was absolutely world class and at times it felt like he was winning games on his own.
He has scored 67 EPL goals but he scored 26 of them in his first 51 appearances.
8 goals a season including penalties isn’t enough from Bruno, I don’t think that puts him in the best players in the world category. He is capable of more. He goes through periods of playing very poorly in games even though he may get an assist, then he will have a good game and the 4 or 5 poor games get forgotten. His work rate and availability can’t be faulted unlike his intelligence. He gives away stupid fouls (especially in games where he loses his head) and gifts the opposition possession in tight games by taking shots instead of retaining possession with time running out where anyone else would play the ball out wide and let the winger run the clock down by the corner flag.
Bruno is great at creating chances but it’s getting a bit giddy saying he is one of the best players in the world with the holes in his game and the amount of games he isn’t anywhere near his best, he needs to double his league goals be consistent and not cause the team problems doing stupid things. Then he may get back into that bracket.
