at least do it year by year ffs

Really not sure about this one. I guess he’s a versatile backup and a locker room veteran, but he’ll be 31 this year and for a player who primarily features on the wings, I’d rather the second option be young and quick. Plus, Olise deserves the #7 kit.

You can definitely do worse than Serge in a pinch.

This is OK depending upon on how much they’re paying him, as a forward who mostly focuses on the wings, being 30 years old implies less physicality and more propensity towards long term injuries.
He was making 18M a year and had several seasons where he was on and off, this has been a good season but given his age there are no guarantees he’ll be able to keep up. If the extension is for less than 10M a year, it’s OK, considering Díaz and Olise who are the main wingers make around 12.5M.

Good. When he’s not suffering from injuries, he’s always good for a goal or an assist in every game he’s playing. He’s also rather clinical in front of goal
Glad he’s staying

Gnabry in a contract year is on another level. A solid support guy, happy to have him through 2028!

Finally a nice quick and quiet extension

I guess this deals kinda depends on the wages. They should be heavily tied to performances (g/a) and appearances.
On paper he is a good backup for CAM position. As a winger he is too slow and not good enough in 1v1.
As a Kane backup he is too isolated as a lone striker and only works with 2 strikers.
I feel like a 2 years extension is a little much considering his age and inconsistency. A 1 year extension would have made more sense. BUT Kompany seems to be a fan of Gnabry so it makes sense to back our coach on this one.

This is how you sign a contract. No drama, no stalling, not trying to suck extra money out of the club. Pure respect. Upamecano needs to learn from him.

Good.
He can play almost everwhere offensively and doesn’t seem to feel offended by sitting behind olise musiala karl and diaz

If it were Gnabry before Kompany came in I wouldn’t be a fan, but I definitely think this is good news.

This sub loves to have a team full of wonderkids, high end performers and I get it but Gnabry is the kind of squad player you can basically always slot in and he will perform acceptable.
It would better to think about where you could find an adequate replacement that will be content with sitting on the bench and wont be completely lost on the pitch.
In that regard its good that he extended. Hope they cut his wages accordingly and we have a quality option with lots of experience around.

I’m torn on this one. On the one hand, Gnabry has good stats overall and can be used in all four offensive positions, but on the other hand, I don’t think he’ll ever be more than a backup again.
All things considered I’m fine with the contract extension, especially as it frees us from the need to sign a replacement. But the very high salary for such a luxury backup does give me a bit of a stomach ache.

A lot of users in this sub didnt like his extension. However with how decent our transfers been under Eberl, I choose to be open minded with how it goes.
Time and time again, our board had been spotted on.

I’m actually all for this. Rumour is he’s taken a pay cut, he’s a bit inconsistent yes but seems to be doing really under kompany. He’s also incredibly versatile and can cover both wings, CAM & ST (if needed). He’s also a workhorse for us & really loves the club.
A replacement would be expensive and gnabry is happy to be a super sub, he doesn’t cause drama & wants to be here. I’m happy.

Would’ve liked the wage to be a bit lower but he was our best winger in terms of goal contributions from the treacherous trio of him, Coman, and Sané. Also I know it keeps Kimmich happy that he’s around so that’s a plus.

If the money is right this is the type of squad player that will help our depth and means ones less area we will have to look at in the summer

anything known about the terms? He is an ok Sub who sometimes has his moments. How often have we bashed him in the matchday thread, only for him to score seconds after. Hope he unleashes his afro power more often, even when we dont play in london.

Good. I think an underrated aspect of this is his personality. He always seemed like a chill and friendly guy, also perfect English and German, one of the remaining treble winners, senior, always seemed like locker room glue, something we’re dependent on now that we’ll lose Gore, and possibly Neuer.

Good for rotation , his best position is definitely the cam spot but he will likely cover the wings as well but he definitely hinders our game a bit there. Hence why we need back up specifically for the lw spot in the summer. Or pray that wisdom mike matures a lot this year to potentially get a shot like Karl did this year.
