Arsenal’s style of football **against low-blocks** is boring but otherwise I think they’re good to watch. Other clubs in the league are a lot more fun to watch when playing against defensive teams but those clubs are not 6 points clear at the top of the prem.

Let’s be honest here. No Arsenal fan in the world will care about Arteta’s style of play if it delivers them trophies come May. Fans will always accept pragmatic football if the team is successful, however, if the trophies and wins are not there, then the criticism will rightly be targeted towards the manager.

  3. I’ve spent years watching Wenger’s late reign champagne football. Supremely entertaining but generally couldn’t match up with the big teams and often his teams would also get frustrated against teams they parked the bus too.

This era of set piece galore and a heavy reliance on structure is fun in its own way. It’s bloody fucking fun to see corners with such precision. He’s made Arsenal fun again to watch during big games. And above all, it’s getting Arsenal closer to the title.

  4. I am not sure about being nice to watch but I have seen Arsenal place nice football under Arteta. I don’t think if Arteta has his way this is the type of football he wants to play.

I am sure Arteta wants his false 9 with Jesus floating around with Jorginho at the base, Zinchenko coming inside and Odegaard, Ben White and Saka overloading ik a fluid manner… but the issue is that in the PL refs literally forces teams to play in a physical way with the stupid way they referee manage games. If we play the way Arteta wants us to play in his fantasy history has shown that we get battered and a third of the team gets season ending injury by January.

So in comes Gyokeres who spend 90% of the game wrestling opposition centrebacks the likes Merino, Rice and Zubimendi etc dominating the centre aerially and 2 centrebacks at fullback and Trossard and Saka are told to hold the ball to probe opposition instrad of forcing the issue… But with this comes the price of being more rigid.

In Europe where referees are more reasonable and not completely stupid… we have found more success playing in a more fluid way with Jesus upfront and we can throw more fluid players like MLS, Martinelli in the team. It has been far more entertaining there.

  5. I have no problem with their style, I just clown my Arsenal mates because back when Mourinho used to beat Wenger every game they would cry about dominating possession, having more shots ‘being the better team’ etc while we just hit them on the counter and won.

Now the shoe is on the other foot they defend it so I take the piss. Plus it’s so easy to wind them up about anything.

  6. If we are being honest, Arsenal do face teams who sit behind the ball a lot in the prem. Credit to them for finding ways to still beat it.

Probably why they look different in European games, those teams are coming out to play against them, and getting punished for it.

So people are criticising a team because the opponents are able to defend reasonably well against them but in order to do so they basically give up any intention to score or win the game themselves.

In other words ‘Arsenal are so good that you have to be stupid to try to beat them’ is how they’re trying to knock us down now. It’s insane.

    Man defends his views.
    Let’s chat shit about it.

And just to be a bit serious. It’s not the system, that’s fine, it’s the lack of trophies that brings criticism.

  9. Arsenal are definitely scapegoats for some of us being mad at losing interest in football because of the way a lot of teams have started to play.

Haters gonna hate. Arsenal are playing in a different league, and that’s why they’re top. The league may be named NFL but this is 2026. Deal with it.

  11. If teams actually played open football against us, not only is it more exciting but they may be able to actually win.. look at United last weekend.

  12. They’re top of the league with two wins in hand, still in all comps and without doubt one of the best teams in club football.

This constant narrative around their playing style is just ridiculous.

  13. People got 2-3 years of nice exciting Arsenal football and Arsenal have nothing to show for it but 2nd place and everyone was happy becuase Liverpool or City won.

So Arteta has added a more controlling style, more suffocating, has no interest in anything but winning trophies and he’s getting shat on for it.

  14. My friend who’s an Arsenal fan doesn’t really watch games anymore cos it’s too boring for him. He grew up in the Wenger era, and this isn’t the Arsenal way according to him. But he’s fine with doing whatever it takes to win the league this season, and checks livescores to keep himself updated. Ultimately, he hopes after breaking the glass ceiling of finally winning the league, Arteta can go back to the 2022/2023 style of football.

  15. As people have said – interesting that Arsenal are the terrorists, not the teams that play low block week after week hoping to take advantage of a counter attack.

I guarantee if Arsenal were playing lunatic ball like Barcelona they’d be getting so much criticism for being weak and too flair based, and can they do it on a cold night in Blah

Team just won 4-0 at Elland Road. Scored a direct corner. Still not good enough!

  16. Its incredibly dull to watch, it reminds me of championship football – especially how they rely on bullying goal keepers to get the majority of their goals

As an Arsenal fan, I literally couldn’t give a fuck.

This wasn’t a problem when it was us getting roughed up, was it?

  18. TheMysteriousOrganis on

Yeah, haram-ball is a tough watch. You see better football in the WSL. I include ourselves in that statement too.

  19. MelodicPreparation93 on

Arsenal are smashing it, top of the league, top of the champions League. Still in both domestic cups. So they’re only doing something right. Let’s face it, literally every fan of every other club would happily play how Arsenal do if it meant being in their current position.

  20. Flat-Welder-3393 on

It’s not Arteta’s job to entertain people, his job is to win Arsenal the Premier League,,having waited 22 years since our last title,i couldn’t care less how he achieves it

  21. Lonely-Contract-7659 on

Meh IDGAF how we win our games as long as we win. Whether it’s through this stupidly named “dark arts or haram football”. Fact is we have insane depth and have players that are no longer going to roll over for other teams.
Sure there’s been a few results that didn’t go our way but hey still top of the league and still in all the cup competitions.
So let these salty fans of other clubs cry, it’s hilarious to watch and read. They were perfectly fine with 115fc winning everything in sight, now that they aren’t people are getting upset lol.

  22. I’m not a fan of their playstyle, I’m sure a percentage of their fanbase isn’t, but really as a fan of a club who gives a fuck if you win the damn thing. I know I wouldn’t

Only becomes a problem when they start losing

  23. I am old enough to remember how much Arsenal fans hated Mourinho’s “Anti-football”, I guess years of trophyless turns you into the thing you hated the most.
