[Newcastle United] 12 years. 253 appearances. A leader on and off the pitch. We can confirm that Jamaal Lascelles has completed a permanent switch to Leicester City.

Weirdly got me watching this. End of an era man. Last player of the 16/17 Championship squad to go
All the best Captain

Leader. Legend. Lascelles.
You gave everything to the club. Maybe not the most talented, but your commitment and attitude were never in doubt. You showed up in the big moments and were always prepared to put your body on the line.
The fanbase won’t forget you. <3

A player that played for the right reasons and wasn’t scared of showing it and at times saying it. Leaves with a bag full of Geordie wishes!

One of my favourite memories is when he got a yellow card despite not even playing when we were at the peak of our shithouse stage post takeover. Always fought for the badge and deserved a testimonial.

A true leader through the dark times under Ashley. Wish him all the best at Leicester.

Said this in another thread, but…
Where would we be if a 22 year old lad in his first season with club, hadn’t got a red card and told his manager ‘no one gives a fuck’ on the way off?

Leader on and off the pitch. Had a family member work at training center and said Jamaal would sort anyone out if they had issues or put people in their place if they were rude or arseholes to none playing staff etc. also said he was hard as fuck so that helps haha

A player of great character. Sad to see him go but understand why.

A bit shit we never gave him a testimonial game or something. He just leaves with no fan fair or applause.

I don’t think it is a stretch to say he’s the single most influential Newcastle player in generations. Without him we could have easily gone the same way as Leeds or, god forbid, Sunderland. His leadership in the championship seasons and those that followed was fundamental to our survival as a premier League club, and we wouldn’t have had the takeover without him and Ashley would have asset stripped us as soon as he stopped seeing value in the free advertising he was getting.
I’ll always be nothing but extremely grateful for him, as a relatively young man, standing up to the senior players, corralling the players into playing for the shirt and turning this club around.
For most teams, the captaincy is basically irrelevant, for us, it was everything. He’ll always be my captain, he’ll always be my hero.

I can’t even find the famous interview of him after that away performance which made him de facto captain anymore.
But goodbye Lascelles, you got us through the hard times.
