pedri has established himself as the best midfielder in football this season, dominating in multiple key performance metrics that define elite midfield play.

last season there was huge debate how vitinha was clear of him and indeed vitinha gave a tough fight as a no 8.

pedri leads europe’s top five leagues in touches, successful passes, final third passes, and recoveries, outpacing other top midfielders in these fundamental areas of control and progression, and doing so consistently for Barcelona in both La Liga and the Champions League.

in the 2024/25 laliga season, pedri led the entire league in all midfield stats leaving Bellingham, Zubimendi, FDJ, and all others behind.

what's crazy is that this mf set the record for most ball recoveries in a single match in the 2024/25 with 17 ball recoveries and broke the same record in very next game.

and this guy is already a step ahead of the guys of his age despite all the online and on the pitch debates and comparison

*We might be seeing the making of the greatest midfielder of all time and one of the best footballer guys.

  1. >last season there was huge debate how vitinha was clear of him and indeed vitinha gave a tough fight as a no 8.

Pedri was so clear don’t fall for the PR

  2. Are you saying he wasn’t clear last season?

With a rating of 8,06 across all games, 12 man of the match awards in La liga/CDR and a player of the month award and 8th finish Bdor?

Vitinha is a flash in a pan but doesn’t control or recover half as much as Pedri.

  3. If this is true then it should translate on the pitch against Bayern’s and Arsenal’s midfield.
Don’t know about Bayern’s but Arsenal midfield is rock solid and will be the real test.

  4. He is for sure top tier. And above most. But it is hard to compare him to other players with different roles in the midfield like frenkie and is not really comparable to rice who is also a different beast for the past 2 seasons, but rice plays a way different role from what pedri does, as in most teams you would not really choose one over the other, you would have both in a way.

But overall I agree 1000%. If you want a midfielder for that role, you want pedri.
