Feels like Kicker watched a different match than I did. The refereeing this weekend was outrageous on most of the games. We lost count of how often we said “How is that a pen?” and that’s only the tip of the iceberg

Not entirely off, tbh. None of the decisions against Bayern were grave mistakes but rather situations that were up to interpretation and that could have been called differently. Meanwhile, Kane absolutely deserved the yellow card against HF (and – frankly – another one for all his complaining throughout the game, too), Olise didn’t get a clear yellow, and Remberg got a yellow for playing the ball. So there’s a case to look at it the way the kicker does by calling it a weak performance with the clear mistakes being in favour of Bayern. Generally, it would be better to discuss how to find an answer to the tactics Hamburg applied (pulling players out of their position by mirroring the man-to-man-style) before it’s too late in the CL knockout phase instead of looking for excuses by blaming the referee.
